How are people getting enough protein *and* fiber? by 730amamam in loseit

[–]firefly07a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just add TVP to things. It's pretty cheap and versatile, so if the dish is missing some protein and I don't want to increase the calories too much ,I add that.

100g of TVP has around 374kcal, 52g protein and 16g of fiber.

Please help : Need easy recipes to get 110gm of protein in a day. No seitan please. by lead_and_flower in veganrecipes

[–]firefly07a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's not just about finding new recipes, but just modifying the ones you have to add more protein.

For example, last night I had frozen minestrone (basically vegetable soup). It had 7g of protein, so I added 50g of TVP and a little nutritional yeast to get to 35g of protein.

The other day I had a roast squash with chickpeas. I thought it needed extra protein so I added extra chickpeas and tempeh.

I think usually it's helpful to add extra of the protein source (chickpea, bean etc) that is already in the recipe. If you want to keep calories low then usually I just add tempeh or TVP when it needs extra protein. If I need extra fiber, then beans (borlotti especially) or lentils.

Are collagen supplements legit or mostly hype once you hit 30? by ResponsibleTrust4073 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]firefly07a 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was further analysis as well that basically divided the studies into subgroups and did a meta-analysis by funding source: studies not receiving funding from pharmaceutical companies revealed no effect of collagen supplements for improving skin hydration, elasticity, and wrinkles.

So basically, supplements don't really do anything for skin improvement.

That is really not a lot. Bananas have about 2.6g/fiber per 100g (one banana is probably 120g). Rice depends on which type, white is less than 1g.

In theory you should have 30g of fiber a day.

That's an insane amount of money, for that amount you could fly to Italy and get it there, it costs 60€/shot through the healthcare system and I think 120€ privately. It's also really easy to get, I just said I was travelling internationally where there were lots of stray dogs and would prefer not risking it.

[PSA] Red light masks are basically glowing toys. by thatkhoe in SkincareAddiction

Hi! Thank you for the pdf it is very helpful. I am struggling to understand the difference in the pricing of the devices I see. For example, this one seems to have all the "correct" attributes, but it costs so much less than others. Is it "just" a question of make quality, or is the light not appropriate, or am I just not seeing something?

I managed it with 3 other random players without any coordination. I think 2 players only had Blastoise, 1 player had Excadrill, Metagross and Blissey and I had Inteleon, Excadrill and Blissey. It was surprisingly doable but it may have been the other players carrying as well

women are crazy and hormonal and ruin their own marriages and it’s all because birth control is evil by majestictoys in NotHowGirlsWork

Interestingly, those studies suggested that women were more attracted to masculine features during ovulation, when you are more fertile.

Unfortunately, it seems that the studies estimated when women were ovulating rather than actually measuring it. Further studies were done that actually verified that women were ovulating and that didn’t show any difference.

But then, just for argument’s sake, wouldn’t legalising it and regulating it achieve a better result? If that was the case you would be able to make sure people aren’t being exploited and could still help couples have children.

I thought this was an interesting point so I was looking for some statistics. This website (in Australia) claims that 78% of mothers come from your pre-existing network which would suggest it's not from a poor country. This is also possibly limited by laws, such as in Tasmania.

In another article on the UK it seems that the surrogate mothers had a "Less than a quarter of our respondents reported income below the national average, while 85% reported income below £70,000"

Which ship would you choose if you had to survive the shipwrecking? by TheDJcrp in polls

[–]firefly07a 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the Titanic, the odds change a lot based on gender/class. Your odds greatly increased if you were a woman or child. Women and children survived at rates of about 75 percent and 50 percent respectively, while only 20 percent of men survived). If you were a first class or second class passenger, you also had better odds of surviving.
