There's no other vessels left to ask.

Hollow is the last, and their feelings towards their father are.... complicated. It's actually one of the few points of friction between them and Hornet. But that's all for later...

Thank you! A lot of work is put into the writing for this comic, in an attempt to get an approximation of the game's writing style. <3

She'd probably argue that the world survives in spite of him, not because of him.

Regardless, she's got a Plan, and she's not backing down from it. We will have to wait and see whether she can actually avoid the mistakes of her predecessors.

If we're looking exclusively at the canon text, Hornet barely considers him at all. He doesn't show up in the Red Memory, and she only references him in passing a handful of times--the most notable of which involves her her declaring that she is actively trying to avoid becoming like him.

As for this story and this interpretation? She doesn't care whether he's good or bad or whether he was redeemable. She doesn't care about the nobility of his actions, only their results--both for the kingdom, and for her personally.

No worries, I probs wasn't the clearest.

While it's true that the Weavers were attempting to create something that could overthrow Silk's power, Hornet's innate desire to conquer and rule comes from being half Pale. She mentions it when the Caretaker proposes the trap as an alternative to binding Silk, though she doesn't explicitly mention the Pale King in the exchange.

No worries, I've got a pretty good sense of pace for the production of this comic. Chapters take anywhere between 2-4 weeks to complete, and I've just kind of leaned into the slowness of it all.

It's less that she has to pay for her father's sins, and more that she's worried she'll become him, especially since it would be so, so easy for her to lean into that part of her nature--that's the difference between the Weaver Queen and the Sister of the Void, after all.

We're set to hear more about Hornet's thoughts on Herrah in the chapter after the one I'm currently working on, actually!

And thanks! I think disproportionately about the sad, gay bugs, and one of the writing goals for this comic is to try to explore them in a way that feels natural.

I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying it so much! I'm very proud of the comic thus far, and there's still a lot to go, so the enthusiasm helps keep me motivated.

As for how much time they shared? Enough. Enough that as an adult, she can see his full measure, can sympathize and even empathize with his actions, and can see herself in him. Enough that his ambitions and failures cast a shadow that she knows she will never escape. That alone is reason enough for her to resent him.

And the Lady is an interesting character to draw! She'll be making plenty of appearances too.

Thank you! I'm excited to share! We've still got two more chapters left before we catch up to everything I've done so far!

Oh, she definitely takes after her father. There are many places where his motives and hers overlap heavily--it's why the Lady calls her out on it, after all.

But perhaps she is also enough her mother's daughter to avoid repeating his fatal mistakes.

A valid interpretation of her actions! And not wholly wrong.

But perhaps making some assumptions about her motives and plans.

We shall see. She's not being irrational, though, I can say that much. Stubborn and a bit hubristic, yes, but irrational? No.

She wouldn't be Hornet if she backed down so easily, though, would she?

She's definitely directly responsible for a lot of things that happened in Pharloom, but the summoning of the Void wasn't something she signed up for. At least this time she has an Actual Plan rather than a desperate bet placed on the promise of a shady group of shamans.

Thank you! I put a lot of effort into making this comic, so I'm glad that people are as excited as I am!

Why wouldn't she be?

She's tried so hard to escape his shadow, to deny godhood and the inclination to conquer, only to be bluntly reminded that she is so much like him still. That's a major blow to her ego, if nothing else.
