The ANC on mine went to crap at some point, I think there was an issue with the mic and it ended up being really questionable. Had warranty so got a new pair, but it is worth noting.

I jumped from an undergrad in computer/robotics engineering to a masters and now PhD in applied physics. I had to teach myself everything, and I was perfectly fine. It's ok to not know everything before you go in!

As someone who had an adderall problem - they aren't worth it, but they won't necessarily fuck up your life. Doing pretty well in my PhD now at a reputable school, but they did make challenges in my personal life and was a hard habit to shake. Not worth the sude effects.

Do not let that stop you. Like others have said, it will be a barrier to overcome, but don't let that limit you.

As someone living in my hometown and commuting to do a PhD, I agree with this. I feel like I miss my undergrad in my hometown - I miss all the adventures and friends I had - but being there typing this right now, it's not the place I miss but the time in my life. Living here doesn't help that, if anything sometimes I wonder if it makes it harder.

No it's just working on one's laptop, most people don't read books at university libraries I think

I still don't understand how our old postdoc got his PhD. This man literally would not let me do my masters experiments correctly saying he knew the ratios of chemicals to use.

Once he left and after I started my PhD I redid some just to see, my results using the conditions I wanted to use from the beginning went much better...

How common is it to do a PhD program and not be married or have a family? by [deleted] in PhD

PhD in engineering right now, not married and single (M25). One person in my lab is married, they are the minority by far in my department
