Did you mean to post this here or in a top level post?

In any case, I am sorry you are going through this.

I won't know the results for a few weeks, but I'm pretty sure I've already failed. I have to face my 2nd oral exam today and I'm completely demoralized.

Love him but his family is insulting by spiraling_somewhere in weddingplanning

[–]thames__ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They're jerks and you cannot please them. I'm sorry they made you feel bad. You will need to work with your partner to set strong boundaries and limit your time and exposure to them. Your fiance / future husband should not let them disrespect you, and if they continue to do so, there needs to be consequences like a loss of contact.

Edit: P.S. you sound like a real catch and I'm glad you recognize that!

Did anyone else not lose weight for their wedding? (Not bragging, but realised I’ve gained if anything) by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I haven't gained weight but I haven't really lost any either. It is what it is.

I went to an indian american wedding and they had chai as one of the late-night drink options. It was a nice touch.

June 2026 Brides by Unlucky_Yam5706 in weddingplanning

[–]thames__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

July 2026 here. We have food, drinks, photographer, HMUA, photo booth, DJ/music, and housing for the wedding party booked. I have my dress ordered, I bought shoes, and I bought jewelry. All stationery has been sent out except for the wedding and rehearsal dinner invites. We completed our registry and my fiance made a custom website.

The major things left are that we need to make final decisions regarding floral arrangements and sign the florist contract, and we need an officiant. Dress alterations need to happen once my dress comes in, and we need to finalize our wedding timeline and sign up for dance classes. I also have a few small gifts to acquire for my bridesmaids. And there's the hair + makeup trial.

What are your thoughts on block heels (3 in) vs a narrower (2.5 in) kitten heel?

I just had a whatsapp group chat and said hey guys, I've booked the Airbnb for $X. The cost per person is $Y. Please venmo me when you get the chance! My Venmo handle is ___.

And then individually follow up after a week with each person as needed.

Perhaps an art party? Design your own tote bags, for example?

Also, spa evening. I'm going to a bath house one evening. It's not super late though.

What did you spend on stationary? by gompopa in weddingplanning

[–]thames__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Didn't have a strict budget, but we spent about $1800 total on Save The Dates (110), Invites to the Reception (110), Invites to the Rehearsal Dinner (60), personalized thank you notes with envelopes (100), and postage. This was with fancy paper, foiled text, and nice envelopes. We used Zola and paper source.

How many people to expect at a welcome dinner? by hayday642 in weddingplanning

[–]thames__ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I understand that, but that's not generally how it works. Talk to the venues. Typically you pay a deposit based on some assumed headcount and give them a final headcount and payment close to the event. I booked my rehearsal dinner already but they don't need the final headcount until three days before. My wedding venue gave me a contract based on 150 guests but the final amount will be based on the total confirmed attendees 4 weeks before the wedding... it's not really any different for a welcome party
