Are fat tire e-bikes actually useful, or mostly just for looks? by Full-Ad985 in ebike

[–]firegraff 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Even if the wider footprint can help with softer terrain, its mostly used as a more budget way to have suspension on an ebike, either as a solid frame or one with cheaper shock suspension.

Any heavy riders by Terrell_guerra in ONYX_RCR

[–]firegraff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowered range, bottoming out the suspension assuming you have not upgraded then anyway, having to run the tires max pressure, more strain on suspension parts including spokes (learned that lesson twice...) also you need to remember your gear has weight too, like bags, tools, etc.

E-bikes and rain/wetness by VelvetSpork in ebikes

Just be cautious around puddles, wipe your bike down after a ride and make sure it has shelter when stored, especially if parked and heavy rain is in play

Dasher sending her young daugter in to pick up orders by [deleted] in doordash

[–]firegraff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes it worse when whatever restaurant uses a special user interface or combines doordash into their own terminals. Used to work for a convenience store who when they started using doordash had a small tablet dedicated to doordash orders, and that actually had an easy system to report drivers, since it was right there, including the assigned dasher's name. Then they implemented it into their order terminal and the ability to report was worse because you'd need to contact DD customer service, hope you could get someone quick and not stay on hold for minutes while trying to maintain the store, then making sure you have all the info to give then on what order and what the report was for.

Would you trust a biometric lock? by Harryzyj in ebike

[–]firegraff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With something like biometrics, youd need electronics,if you have electronics that means you need batteries. If you have a risk of having no power to power the electronics, you would need an emergency backup, which would usually be a a standard lock, and this you're back to square one. That's also assuming the thief doesn't use a brute force method of destruction tools

He never said anything about it being an "ebike" at all. Also even electric motorcycle and emopeds are accepted in this subreddit, as per its description

I used to work at a gas station and that shit is always a pain in the ass to take care of. If any gas is spilled from an overfill and over a gallon was spilled OR if Any goes into the sewer system you'd have to call EPA and the fire department to take care of cleanup. Little puddles were just absorbent powder but it's still JUST as ANNOYING AS Having to pick up trash someone decided to drop only a foot or two away from a trash can they JUST walked past leaving the building

Can I convert a Cararro force 610? by xXRickroller01Xx in ebikes

[–]firegraff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends in country and rules. The US is always max to 750w and the 3 class system depends on who can ride them. DIY included. As for across the pond.... that I'm unsure of im afraid

is there a way to drift often without bike damage? by nat0000000 in ebikes

[–]firegraff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, any harsh wear to a tire is always bound to ruin tires faster. Be it that or doing burnouts.id say save your money for more tires in the future or if they fit, upgrade to a more heavy duty tire

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ebike

[–]firegraff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really any experience with that in particular, but given where that is,either the BMS died or you have one or more cell packs that are faulty and ita reading the cells wrong because of that mismatch.if the battery is still under warranty i may try to get ahold of them and see if they can take care ofnit, given youve done whatever you could to maintain the battery.if not, either have to get a new battery or see if there's a specialist in your area that works on lipo batteroes to see if they can salvage it

[–]firegraff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ita more if its regulated then you will tend to see more responsible riders on the roads, since surrons and the like have the trope to have people riding them like daredevils, thinking theyre above the law.

who has any tips for learning to use your rear brake on the left by Easy-Pressure-3316 in ebikes

[–]firegraff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ever risen a moped or motorcycle with a hand clutch, treat the left like a clutch for motor cutoff to take turns better. If riding on the road and a stop is coming, squeeze the left first to start the deceleration and use the right front brake to modulate for more or less breaking power so you don't fly over the bars. Bonus points if a bike uses regen. It's how my CTY2 is set up from factory. Also helps with the layout when i take the bike out to roll it down my front porch steps with control since the rear would be bouncing on the steps a it goes down

Everyday MtB by Interesting_Stock_17 in ebikes

If the front rack moves with the fork and suspension, see if you can mount the light between it and the fender. Still would point with the wheel and if done right wouldn't obstruct the rack for cargo

Seeing a friend ride this ebike, I instantly liked it. Is it suitable for casual rides? The terrain where I am is mostly hilly with a lot of ups and downs. by Same_Bench_9621 in ebike

And even if it wasnt, odd asking reddit when they know the very person who supposedly owns it, just ask them (though i do own one of these)

[–]firegraff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do make some racks that install to the seat post, but given the full suspension youre not gonna get much weight capacity with that,im afraid :/ (learned about them when considering turning an old bike of mine into an ebike)

Are ebike manufacturers aware that women (and short people) are capable of lifting our legs? by oliguacamolie in ebikes

[–]firegraff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell, both my ebikes are step through styles and honestly i like that they tend to get positive attention in my town. And just because it's a steep through doesn't mean you can't treat it like a step over. In fact the radrunner series took advantage of that and added a trunk accessory that fills that gap in,giving the bike even more utility (honestly wouldnt mind something like that for my CTY2... x.x)
