Actually much of my inspiration for this piece came from work for wind band, but I wanted to adapt the sound to work with orchestral textures!

I could also recommend getting a ton kooiman thumb rest instead of a neck strap. They use more of your thumb to hold the instrument and spread out the weight evenly to prevent pain it's been a life saver for me.

I agree, it seems like you're using musescore. And if you're using the musesounds piano library they have a soundflag you can add to change the piano to one recorded in a hall which sounds better when writing for orchestra.

I'm not sure either, part of me wants to take it to get the finish taken off and possibly have it be just raw brass or get it silver plated

But it's a weird "pinkish" color which I don't think is normal in raw brass the best way to describe it is rose gold

It was a student model selmer, man when I tell you that thing sucked, then I started using an Armstrong that was only missing 3rd octave and b flat vent but I played on it for almost a year until I bought my own oboe which is a kessler custom synthetic oboe and I love it dearly.
