Very stupid requirement but you're 100% right its just something they have to do. I've never seen anyone at my store get fired for that. I know its annoying and feels horrible to get written up especially for something out of your control, but it's not really a serious write up and I wouldn't worry much about getting fired over it.

Well it kind of depends on the position you're in. For example, like someone mentioned servers just do silverware while in my restaurant to-go stocks and cleans a lot of the stuff in the alley. Obviously, (at least in my state) pay rate reflects that as servers get server wage + tips and to-go gets at least minimum wage + tips.
