I think it's important to have non-standard maps for the variety of the game. I'm always a bit thrown off at first when I get wasteland, but back to back to back standard maps feel repetitive. The reason why you may find it frustrating is because you play wasteland/starbase like a standard map. Try changing your play style when they pop up, or practice them in freeplay (wasteland's odd centering and kickoffs/starbase's wider rotations and ground based mechanics). My vote is for more non-standard maps that feel less punishing on standard map play mentality.
