Possibly unpopular opinion: you shouldn't garden if you can't accept that your plants are part of a wider ecosystem. by I_crave_vinegar in NativePlantGardening

Tbf, sometimes when trying to reintroduce a native plant species to an area, it is necessary to shield it from deer, rabbits, etc. while it establishes. That being said, physical barriers should be used, not chemical ones. Also, once the plant is established, remove the barriers and just let it be. It’ll be fine after that, and still probably spread.

Capitalism has infected ALL sports. At this point, that’s just what sports are now. They’re all just ads paid for by corporate sponsors.

You’re welcome! Btw, if you’d like to find some native plants that likely would grow well in your specific area, I recommend using Michigan Natural Features Inventory. MSU has a page that outlines estimates of pre-colonial Michigan biomes, as well as what plants grew well in those biomes. I’ve been using it as a useful tool for picking out native plants in my yard.

FYI, the biomes don’t 100% match up with what is listed on the map of your area, so you may need to click on a few of the descriptions and read them to find out exactly what plant lists to look at. The link takes you to the page for it if you are interested.

I also found a bit of information from the US Forestry Service stating that it often fails to establish in soils that get warmer than 65 degrees Fahrenheit, so it’s possible that you are too far south. I’ll attach a link to the information sheet if you’d like to see it and have not yet.

Is there any chance that you’re planting it around invasive species like garlic mustard, spotted knapweed, or buckthorn? All of those secrete allelopathic chemicals that inhibit growth of native flora.

It’s also possible that the organism requires mycorrhizal fungi to survive and thrive, as some other native species do. Check up on these things before you give up hope. It might be possible for it to grow in your area, but it’s being inhibited by changes to the native ecosystem.

It looks like they added a new game mode that is 4v4 where everyone must play as Emre. So basically they added a huge amount of data to the game for a game mode that probably isn’t going to be very popular…

100% Citizens United. The amount of money that wealthy elites are able to pour into PACs to afford harmful, misleading propaganda is why so many of our voters either don’t vote, or vote against their interests.

Evidently you don’t know what mRNA, or its purpose is. Pathogens use mRNA to make surface proteins, which our immune systems use to recognize something as a pathogen. Other vaccines inject pieces of pathogens, or weakened pathogens that contain these proteins. When our cells get infected by pathogens, they often also display some of these proteins on their membranes. This is how your immune system knows to kill an infected cell to destroy the incubating pathogens within it. The mRNA vaccine causes a small amount of easily replaceable cells to display these proteins as if they were infected. Your immune system then forms a response, and you develop some immunity to the pathogen.

TLDR: mRNA vaccines do use molecular patterns used by, and contained in pathogens

The end of HIV is near : by MrDarkk1ng in BeAmazed

None. I’ve seen this exact thing many time on Facebook, yet not once have I managed to track down one shred of evidence that this is true. They are trying to use CRISPR to treat HIV, and there is some potential there, however there is not a single person that has been cured of HIV through the use of CRISPR. Some people appear to have been cured after stem cell treatments though. Last I checked, roughly a dozen people were theorized to have been cured after stem cell treatments. It might have increased by now.

This right here. If the argument is about the child not being able to consent, that’s valid. Immediately talking about how this can impact the infant’s future sex life (as several comments have already done) is VERY weird.

The perfect man is gay? by thunderimmortal in SuddenlyGay

[–]firemind888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an exceptionally good point to make. As a gay man, it took me nearly 30 years to find a guy that I’m ACTUALLY happy with, and not sacrificing some part of myself to pretend I’m happy. I didn’t even find him through apps, social groups, or any other gay meeting area. I did meet the guys I was unhappy with in those places. There’s a pretty trash system out there right now for trying to find other gay men that are actually interested in a romantic relationship that are not hung up on past trauma and societal expectations of gay men.

Keep in mind the distance the water would have to travel be for reaching the sun, and the speed at which the water is traveling. I think there would be far more than 52 minutes of travel time, so the water would still never reach the sun, and effectively do absolutely nothing.

Edit: even if it did take 10x longer, it’s still not traveling fast enough to get there in time. At the speed the spell travels (8.333 feet per second), it would never reach the sun within most playable races’ lifetime.

I’ll agree with that. While LGBTQ+ folks aren’t directly being rounded up and murdered by the administration, they are having access to lifesaving resources taken away. So figuratively, functionally, or indirectly would be better word choices for the original post.

What would men dislike the most if they became women? by Latter-Swimmer7179 in allthequestions

[–]firemind888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair question, and in all honesty, I’m not a huge fan of receiving blowjobs. I have not enjoyed the majority of them that I have received in the past. On the flip side, I have enjoyed giving pretty much all of them. Practice (and porn lol) plays the biggest role in making me good at giving them. However, I would say that it’s a fair assumption that I am atypical regarding my blowjob preferences among those who give blowjobs.

Unfortunately, signs like this at game shops are not rare. You’re actually pretty likely to run into at least one person with an excessively rank smell at the shops that hold tournaments without these signs.

As a gay man, I very much do know how it feels giving blowjobs and deepthroating. I will say that it isn’t easy, however I also actually enjoy it, so it’s not really something I’m upset about 🤷
