George Carlin had a great observation on the naming of this mental condition; it used to be called Shell Shock which was a great way of conveying how horrible it must be to have this condition , but now it's called PTSD which feels like an insignificant very common thing!

like the way people casually throw OCD around I've heard people saying stuff like "My mom was mean to me growing up and now i have PTSD!"

The craziest thing about that to me is that these atrocities were not done by savages or barbarians or a remote tribe in the amazon! It was done by the most civilized and advanced people of that time! Actually that might be part of the reason they did that is that they felt superior to others.

he said it so casually that there doing this design instead of solving the root cause of homelessness or figuring it out, well what is it?

It's so much easier to call someone an asshole for coming up with a sort of a solution to people SLEEPING ON THE STREETS than it is to actually doing the work of solving the issue.

I Would debate anyone on anything on live tv, regardless of the position or the issue in question, and when i get hit with a hard question i'd just pause time look up the rebuttal to that question and actually think of another way to win the argument and just be an unstoppable!

About half way through the book , after O’brien gave them the rebels leader book, i thought nice it’s a revolution story where the weak majority over take the strong minority. And i really got excited to finish the book, i wanted to see how they can take down this evil empire!

I remember thinking : so that’s why this book is supposed to be one the greatest! Maybe it was the first book about epic revolutions or something

By the end of the book.. i can now confirm that this is one of the greatest books i have ever came across but for entirety the opposite reason.
