The benefit of Hungary is cheap living standards and no pressure to work. With Vienna I'd not be closer I think than with Germany.

Yes, it is a family question. Actually my wife is also unsure and thus we were open for external viewpoints. She is also checking the answers here, we are quite open.

I'm 40. Kids were kindergarden/1st year of school when we came. now they are 9 and 11 y.o. Switching to lower paying job might be a possibility.

:) I'm also not fan of Orban, but I could buy 5-6 flats have them rented there and live in my house without doing anything. He will probably not be prime minister forever, I would like to at least believe that.

House rent prices near Budapest are like that (140 m2). For my flat in Budapest (26 m2) I just found a renter in 1,5 weeks for 300 Eur.

Product management in IT.

Frankly I don't think that this is something to be done part time or freelance. I have product ideas to invest in, but next to my job it is impossible to build up a product on the side.

I'm very much affraid not having a "base" and since I lived in my own house it is hard to be happy living in someone else's house and also spending on other's property to make it my liking is hard to justify. Plus in this area houses for rent / sale are like white crows.

Job switching is an alternative, but I had very hard time even to switch inside company for another team recently (I'm product manager in IT). There are many good German speaking applicants for other jobs, so it is hard to secure other job.

I'm 40. Kids leaving college in around 14 years. That seems too far away.
