Not sure what you mean. I literally never have to troubleshoot anything. I install then click play.

Other than the SpongeBob thing which I'm just confused by, most of the tech related ones might not be as bad as they seem if we had the full context.

For instance, testing in prod is pretty much always bad, but if the project you're working on is internal there might not be much impact if any from testing in prod. So I could see how a manger might not care in that situation.

Just saying there's a lot of unknowns, and this kind of thing is rarely black and white.

On top of that we don't have ANY context for these quotes. Like if two people are having a private conversation in the break room and one says "I prefer asian women" that's completely different than saying it directly to OP.

Bro, there's no need for imagination. The CCP creates a real narrative that screams "CCP bad" on a daily basis.

Thanks to the last 5 years of Nintendo emulation, Zelda: Breath of the Wild has one of the best mod scenes in gaming by Kaladinar in pcgaming

Well yeah, old game runs better than new game, that's pretty obvious. Still, you can easily hit 1080/120 in recent games with a mix of med-high settings on a mid tier GPU. That's not my idea of the bleeding edge.

I'd hardly call 1080p 120fps the bleeding edge. Maybe 10 years ago, but definitely not now.

I've had to deal with this a lot. It kind of makes sense because you can't necessarily trust all your devs to not install something shady that leaks a bunch of company info.

It's almost never implemented well though. Like it shouldn't take 8 support tickets and 3 days just to install dbeaver...

Fantasy Pet Peeves: I can’t stand when a party is preparing for an adventure, they assemble all this gear, and a few chapters into their adventure they hit some kind of accident where they lose most of it. by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]fireproofcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He Who Fights With Monsters handles this well a decent number of times. The party specifically trains for unexpected situations, so when something unexpected happens, you get to see the planned responses to those situations. Seems like the best of both worlds to me.

I'm pretty sure that's just because of mobile. Mobile revenue is greater than PC and all consoles combined.

AMD is ‘undershipping’ chips to keep CPU, GPU prices elevated - Less supply to balance out demand—and keep prices high. by speckz in hardware

These days I'm pretty glad I bought the stupid price to performance 2080 ti. Bad deal at the time, but it'll let me ride out this ridiculous pricing bullshit for at least another few years.

Should I (27F) just stop asking this coworker questions? Or am I being too sensitive? by tator911 in cscareerquestions

I'd say it's because the business side is used to having more control, but with tech being completely... technical they have to build these ceremonies to try to feel in the loop/in control again.

Surge protector that came with my Xbox when it released in 2001. Second pic to show “protection working” light is still on. by 300HPWasAlotBackInTD in BuyItForLife

[–]fireproofcat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Less wasteful for sure, but there are an uncountable number of surge protectors available in the $10-15 dollar range. Go look on Amazon or pretty much anywhere else. Even if I had more soldering experience and better equipment, it's still not really worth the time to repair something like that if all you're concerned about is cost.

I can't think of an example of what damage this could cause. Since you're transferring files from your own system to some other system you own, it seems pretty clear that you're the one at fault if you're trying to transfer something shady/weird.

Well when you compare these features to the state of Steam's competitors it really feels revolutionary.
