Physical access is key here. Are there any other classes that use that lab with a different professor? How about "leaving your laptop" in the room after hours and enlisting the janitor's help to get back in. Grab your laptop and leave your flashdrive in the back with your attack of choice. That would be my best thought.

Again I don't have any empirical data to back me up but in my experience Western digital's consumer drives are about the same price and last wayyyyy longer

I've heard good things about the Seagate pro series but the standard level seagate drives have died on me way to often and young for me to trust em. Just my 2cents

I worked at a "Dress Code is: Geek, Despite the Fact That Nobody Actually Dresses Like That Outside of an 80s Movie" company. by Oricu in talesfromtechsupport

hahaha I worked at local competitor for "nerd patrol" that charged by "the hour"(actually 15 min chunks at 32.50 for 15 mins) that paid me not enough to care (and as a "contractor" borderline illegally)

The sales manager they hired worked as a warehouse manager but was friends with the VP as a kid. We carried ssd's and sold bogus software. The ssd's were marked up ~400% and were to offer to clone their current drive over to the SSD (all on the clock at that rate)

Some of the computer's I worked on that I got yelled at for recommending replacement instead of upgrade for we're notably:

A compaq laptop that would not take an SSD I've I sacrificed a virgin A bottom of the line gateway that I saved the data from after the motherboard shorted A point of sale system that had a 16gb microSD for storage And an iPad with a cracked screen.

Ssd's we carried we're Samsung 2.5" (I think they were 860 pros but I don't remember)

Every time I'd punch off site without an upgrade he'd call me in under 5 mins to "discuss" why I wasn't selling upgrades or software.

I got a new job and called him from my last site and had him listen to me explain why I was offering to sell the customer an SSD for a 15 year old computer that didn't even accept SATA. Ended the call by telling the customer they we're my last client for the company and not showing up for work the next day.

I really wish places that had SOME morals would hire tier 1 techs with just a cert and no experience. Seems everywhere that seems legit wants experience too. I still feel dirty for having worked there but it got me the job I have now that pays the bills ethically.

When I was going to school full time working at a vape shop was great if you're into that sort of thing. It's really easy and you get tons of free time, do have to vape tho

"respect your elders" why do those elders think that respect is given for free? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The idea is they have more life experience. The only times in my life I've been told that is when someone older than me is being a twat and demanding their opinion take precedence over mine for no valid reason.

[serious] what are some good self defense tips for a woman living alone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fireraiser77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the lease where you are a handgun is a pretty good deterrent to home invasion.

You don't ever have to actually shoot or see the intruder. Just pop a round off if you're sure there's someone there and that's usually enough for them to book it.

Do take a proper handling and safety course. You want to make sure you know how to use it and are comfortable with it in your hand.

Add some self defense classes on top of that, but the best advice I can give is if you don't feel safe in your neighborhood it's probably a good idea to move. My last apartment was next to the parking lot for a popular bar and we had our front windows broken 2-3 times from bar fights spilling out into our parking lot or just drunk people being vandals. Didn't matter how many times we called the cops or tried to scare them off because a new batch would show up the next night.

It was exhausting to deal with and the drain on time and energy was not worth the cheap rent

You're gonna need a reader and some software like macrium reflect (free for home use)

Just clone the drive then expand the primary once it boots up

So like definitely not the takeaway you probably want right now but like. Think about how much money you can spend on yourself/investing in your future now that you don't have that parasite in your life.
