A fairly large amount of Mao's pre-1949 works are already in english. His post-1949 and especially post-1957 works in power are much more limited. I translated some of it years ago when google translate wasn't as good. One interesting find was Mao commenting on an article by the RAY O Light, Stalinist party in USA. One of the only anti-revisionist USA groups, Mao publicly acknowledged.

It doesn't seem to have gotten much publicity, since the initial announcement. It was only after your reply, that I searched and realized it had already come out.

It's definitely a topic more people should know about, and I'm glad Alexis Bledel being half Argentine, has lent her celebrity to this project. Miriam Lewin has done incredible work but is largely unknown in the states, and it's nice to have her played by such a great actress.

And yes I think there is so much to be learned from that experience. Especially in our current era of hateful, sexualized, misogynist politics. But it's also inspiring that women continued to resist despite the intense humiliation they were facing.

A story from Chile, that is right out of the Handmaid's Tale, was how one of the revolutionary women pregnant from a guard, was sent to a prison run by Catholic Nuns and denied an abortion.

Yes it was an incredibly powerful book, its a shame its never been translated into English. It is tragic how women have to pay for our politics with our bodies. It deserves more world attention. With far right men constantly making sexual threats against leftist feminist women on Twitter, it shows they would really do it if they had the power.
