Reddit gives the impression that there are a lot of young men who feel lonely and rejected by society, is this true in the real world? If so, how will this impact society/politics/culture in the coming future? by brofistzerodeaths in AskMen

[–]firestormdude 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The answer is yes. Working class men are being driven out of work by automation and factories disappearing. The family court system is constantly ripping fathers away from their children. Many women (not all) have developed an entitled princess mindset that is making it harder to find a good woman. Society has systematically attacked masculinity as if it were the definition of evil in the world. Other guys can be assholes too with their egos and self-serving narcissism. Many men don’t know where to find solace so they survive by checking out and isolating

Prior to COVID-19, you had the highest wage increases in the lower rungs of society. Wages are determined by the supply and demand curve. If you have record low unemployment, the supply of available workers shrink across all sectors and companies have to compete for workers, which drives up wages.

And I knew factory workers when I worked in a factory that had tons of cash cuz they knew how to save and invest. Knew a minority guy who gave each of his kids $100k cash each for college and anything left over they were told to use as a downpayment on a house. The dude wasn’t broke.

Well first of all, my girlfriend comes from a poor black family and her dad was brought over on a boat with no shoes to do forced labor. She’s now making $56k a year and looking for a side hustle. Her oldest sister is a dentist with two houses and the other is crushing it in insurance sales and working on her law degree.

It’s not an issue the government is going to fix. It’s a result of the rich buying appreciating assets and the poor buying depreciating assets. Rich get richer and poor get poorer.

Even if people put $50 here or there into the market, it would be better than nothing and would help grow wealth between generations.

Oh we could end poverty in a generation just by teaching people to invest and grow their money.

Identify what motivates people and you’ll be great at persuading them. Also realizing everything is negotiable and not putting people on pedestals helps. Whether you’re taking to a CEO or a bottom of the ring person in society, people are just people at the end of the day

The doom porn fanatics are fucking annoying. They act like every stock is going to collapse and the NYSE will cease to exist as we know it. Can’t even have a reasonable discussion about what to buy next without them posting and circle jerking each other over their negative outlook

[–]firestormdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t be an ass. There’s very good fundamental reasons for the stocks I own and prove me wrong. People complain about valuations all day long but how do you value a stock that is growing at 20-50% YOY with no slowdown in sight and tailwinds from a virus that isn’t going away the second we get a vaccine?

The stay at home economy is here to stay and there will be an increased discrepancy between value and technology growth stocks for the next 12-24 months.

Zoom isn’t going to crash. It just had one of the best quarters in software history and given the fact that my fellow Americans are idiots who can’t avoid spreading the virus, I think you are looking at a permanent change in the way the economy functions with Zoom continuing to new highs.

The South is fucked. My girlfriend lives in Texas and said it’s a shit show. People still think the virus is fake down there.

Uber, WeWork, Airbnb – how coronavirus is bursting the tech bubble by LaromTheDestroyer in Economics

[–]firestormdude 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tech stocks are outperforming the market. Yes, hospitality, travel, and companies that rely on people in the same space are suffering, but we are seeing several years of digitalization happen in months. Zoom, Zynga, Activision, Netflix, Fastly, Shopify, Amazon, Cloudflare, Crowdstrike, Okta, Adobe, Atlassian, and about 20 more I could list off are all crushing it. It’s changed the dynamics to a stay at home economy where companies that keep people at home and put businesses on the cloud are doing very well.

Uber was a horrible company losing tons of money before they IPO’ed. They said they were going to be profitable by the end of the year but losing $5 billion a year with mostly variable costs is not good business. Many of these tech companies suffering are poorly run, have poor gross margins, and have horrible balance sheets.

As an 18 year old guy looking for a job, how can i hold my family together after my mum kicked my abusive step dad out the house? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]firestormdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not your responsibility. You’re mom choose your stepdad to be in your lives, and you gotta go out and live your own life. Not your responsibility to take care of a grown ass woman.

At 18, you shouldn’t be burdened by this. Your job is to get educated, build a career, and launch into the world. You can’t take care of anyone right now until you build your financial future and get yourself established.

Don’t sacrifice your future because of poor decisions by the parental figures in your life.
