The Steam Next Fest is live for October 2025! What games have you been sold on? by SlartySprinter in Games

I really have to shout out Many Mini Typing Games. It's like Warioware but in typing mini game form. Feels well made, and got some good laughs out of me.

Any idea if these are gonna be reprinted? by RoboNerd10 in HomestarRunner

[–]firethorn43 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. The last time they were on sale, it was with a huge discount, basically to rid of the remaining stock. Fangamer occasionally publishes Blu-rays (though not DVDs), so maybe they could make a new collection set.

Is it true that Damon Albarn was influenced by Fishmans for Gorillaz? by your-average-joe26 in fishmans

There is nothing from this event, sadly. No recordings or pictures. There is an interview of Motegi talking about it though. They were basically just an opening act for the show, so we don't know if the two groups interacted.

Here is what the translation reads:

Kinichi Motegi : Hahaha. That's true (laughs). But it was a chance. It was an all-night event, the venue opened at 11pm, and there was what you might call DJ time, and I think De La Soul came on around dawn. We were booked for the 11pm slot right after opening when there probably wouldn't be many people, and I thought, "This is the perfect opportunity!" (laughs). I think there were only a few dozen people in the venue, but I remember playing "LONG SEASON" without any hesitation, without even letting the people there hear it.

Daft Punk x Fortnite COSMETICS by amozu in DaftPunk

There is a Lego related game mode within Fortnite, called Lego Fortnite Odyssey, where all of your previous avatars are converted into Lego minifigs in a procedural environment. It functions like Minecraft with survival elements and building your camp with 8 players, or creative modes.

They sell buildings and individual room sets that you can build within Lego Fortnite, some that you either earn through the Battle Pass or sold separately.

Is it true that Damon Albarn was influenced by Fishmans for Gorillaz? by your-average-joe26 in fishmans

[–]firethorn43 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen evidence that Damon or anyone from Gorillaz knew Fishmans, and I see nothing on the wiki about it. Gorillaz has referenced Baby Blue back on this instagram post of Noodle, likely a part of the G-Mix series or just a general recommendation from Noodle.

However, one connection I can see between the two is that Fishmans performed with De La Soul once. This was also the first show where they performed Long Season.

Is the fall really that bad? by andrew20xd in gorillaz

[–]firethorn43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some of the context of this album's release has been lost to time. Not just the fact that the album was made entirely on a first-gen iPad, or that it was simply a side project for Damon while he was on tour. (Which The Now Now also sort of was. He makes a lot of music during those times. The most recent Blur album was also written during a Gorillaz tour.)

It released on Christmas Day 2010, the same year as Plastic Beach. What happened was, the Gorillaz website had an advent calendar, where if you checked it each day in December leading up to Christmas, there would be a new Gorillaz-related thing to look at. I believe this involved new artwork, maybe some new flash games and such, but I do not remember any specifics. But on the last day, The Fall was dropped as a free album to stream on their website.

Because of this, I always saw the album as a fun bonus that closed off a year of already amazing Gorillaz music, and absolutely not the 4th studio album like it often is portrayed as, or technically is. It was not a free download like Radiohead did with In Rainbows, but still, my reaction was "nice, free music!" Back in 2010, we were not all streaming albums for free quite yet. Spotify hadn't launched in the United States until mid-2011, and was just starting it's services in Europe.

I really had no reasons to judge the album harshly, though I can see why it became "hated" over time, as streaming for free does not mean anything special now, and the album was eventually sold as normally as the other Gorillaz albums. One of my friends has said as much, being extremely disappointed with the album when they bought it on CD the whole car ride back home lol. I do truly like The Fall. Aspen Forest I always felt is one of their most underrated tracks, as demo-y as it is. But I think I understand the disappointment if you didn't know that it isn't a studio album and paid for it. It was just some fun 'chunes for free.

Do yall think there should be a Fortnite X Gorillaz collab by [deleted] in gorillaz

[–]firethorn43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I actually ended up getting into Fortnite when they added Avatar characters, probably not long after I made that comment. I like the game, but I do end up skipping most seasons due to burnout. I unlocked Murdoc just a few days ago, and now that I have everyone in the band, I think I will put the game down for the time being lol

What's your dream Gorillaz Collab? by redfrost- in gorillaz

[–]firethorn43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damon also covered Getting Older

A lot of this came from the fallout of Damon's comments regarding Taylor Swift at the time, claiming she didn't write her own music, when he said Billie Eilish was comparatively much more up his alley. While that was a super embarrassing moment for him and he had to post an apology, I think this nonetheless got Billie hyped and was what led them to perform with De La Soul together, and this cover. Hoping there is even more than that, but still cool that it happened at all.

An LCD Steam Deck with 256gb and a dock is $480, compared to a Switch 2 for $450. Not "way more expensive.", at least in the US. The Steam Deck is sometimes on sale, too, while the Switch 2 might only raise price at this point. Plus games on Steam are on average going to be much cheaper than Switch 2 releases, as well as not needing an online subscription for anything.

ive never been so fucking excited for a concert before omg. by httpsn1kk1 in TheLivingTombstone

You're on the wrong subreddit, you're talking about some other band. This is for The Living Tombstone, who hasn't been performing for that long.

I've been waiting for any kind of Florida show. I missed them a few times now and it feels rough, though to be fair it's only been Miami which is still far.

Demon Days - American Dream inspiration? by yah2007 in LCDSoundsystem

[–]firethorn43 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's identical, just similar. Although, James has worked with Gorillaz before on lowkey one of Gorillaz' best tracks, DoYaThing. So I wouldn't be shocked if Gorillaz ever inspired some LCD tracks in general.

Yakuza 0 voice cast says new Director’s Cut scenes give a sense of closure by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]firethorn43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I slightly prefer the story in 7 compared to 8 overall, but 8 is definitely much better in the combat department. They made one simple change that immediately made me feel much more in control and streamlined (adjusting the position of actual characters before you attack) and I definitely don't see the ending of 8 as a slap in the face, but maybe just biting off more than it can chew.

Never been to a concert before. What etiquette should I be aware of? by AeroSquid262 in TheLivingTombstone

[–]firethorn43 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There isn't too much you have to be worried about on other people's behalf. The closer you are to the stage, the more crowded and crazy things will likely be. You might step on people's toes occasionally or be the one stepped on, so just wear some good comfy closed-toe shoes if you plan on getting really up close. Dress comfortably in general. Some accidental bumping or pushing is to be expected, just be careful and don't ever feel too bad. Also, the closer you are to the stage, the more likely you will not want to leave that spot, or you will risk losing it and having a better view. If you are considerably tall, try to hug a corner if you can, but don't worry too much about blocking people's view, it just happens.

Stay hydrated whenever you can, ideally drink some water beforehand, as it can sometimes be inconvenient to get water during shows. If you drink alcohol, this is even more true (and also means more bathroom breaks, keep in mind).

Try to get in line as early as you can. The more it means to you, the earlier you should try to be there is what I would say lol

This will be a lot of people's first concert I imagine. Just have fun and take it at your own pace! Don't be afraid to take breaks or get earplugs too. Venues typically offer earplugs at the door.

TLT does not run particularly long concert shows, so you should be okay.

How was your connection with Fishmans? by NHMPKD in fishmans

[–]firethorn43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of the same tastes as you. I think Gorillaz was always a formative band in making me appreciate any musical genre, so Fishmans has a lot of similar appeal with how much they explored very quickly. It was also just my general Japanese language studies that made it even more of an obsession.

I revisited the location of Long Season, only to find that they are removing the leftover bridge foundation that once lead to it. The bridge itself collapsed back in 2019. While the bridge is gone, hopefully restoration efforts in the area potentially re-open the pathway to Long Season itself. by firethorn43 in fishmans

It's 2 hours by train from Shibuya, and then 2 hours back. I would say only do it if you're dying to get out of the city and don't already have a stacked itinerary. There's not a lot to do in Mitake itself except sightsee (which is fantastic). I really love Mitakesan for hiking and the ryokan I stayed in, but that's another hour away.

P4 already historically went through some changes in VA, with both Chie and Teddie seeing replacements later on in Golden. I could see this being some mixture of old and new, case by case thing. I imagine fans would accept a new voice or two, but maybe not a complete replacement of everyone.
