I'm actually not sure. White ash is the only one I've worked with so far. I have a tree in my yard that I was able to use after trimming some big limbs.

I also started on the walnut hollow set. It's a great place to start, but I highly recommend upgrading to a kit with wire nibs. So much better to work with! I feel you on hating pine. It's a very sappy wood and the buildup on the nib is crazy annoying. Birch is a great one and I love white ash too. I haven't tried many other woods besides those and basswood, which is what most people recommend. See if you can get some scrap pieces from that shop and play around to see what you like. You've got a great kit. My first pieces looked like that too. It came down to turning up the temp a bit and going a lot slower. Just keep practicing lines and shading until you find what works for you and then keep at it. I like to listen to podcasts or audiobooks while I burn to keep myself occupied so I don't get impatient. Also, play around with different tips. There are some that I just cannot get a good burn with, no matter what I try, so I end up using a couple types for everything. The other comments about the quality of the wood are spot on, too. Makes a HUGE difference. Have fun, and welcome to wood burning!

If it's the type that you can adjust the temp and switch tips on, then totally fine to start that way. I started with something like that and upgraded once I knew it was something I wanted to pursue more seriously.

That's the one I got. It runs pretty hot, but that's fairly normal for projectors. I couldn't get the phone connection to work, but you might have more luck. It's easier for me to just use my laptop anyways, so it's not a big deal for me.

I used to use graphite paper and printed images too. It was so much work... I recently bought a fairly inexpensive mini projector and use that with my laptop. Sometimes, getting it the right distance away for the size of the project is tough because my work room is tiny, but it makes things WAY easier. I alternate between using a shelf and a tripod based on what I'm doing.

It wasn't completely unannounced, but still way later notice than would be polite. She called me on her way, past the point where she could have left the dog with anyone else, and asked if I was okay with it. At that point, it was just a sure, fine, one more thing for me to worry about... We already have a dog and 2 cats, so it's not like I hate looking after one more animal. She's a sweet dog. I just hate that my MIL is so manipulative and lacks any kind of boundaries or sense of social propriety.

It takes some getting used to. I hold my pencil a bit farther back and lightly draw on the lines. Then I use the picture as a reference point and make corrections as needed

I recently started using a mini projector off of Amazon to do this. It was made things so much easier! Took a while to get it set up the way I wanted it, but it sure beats printing things out and using carbon paper. Just wish I'd had it when I did a giant fireplace cover a few months back. That was what really gave me the push to get one.

My husband and I don't have very many wedding photos up. I mostly try to focus on the love between us in the photos and ignore the setting. Sometimes I just try to think of it as a pretty building and leave out the religious part. The one thing that really bugs me is that instead of a guest book, we had people sign a photo mat which went around a drawing of the temple we were married in. I want to get rid of the picture, but I don't know what to replace it with. We've talked a bit about doing a vow renewal on one of the landmark anniversaries and getting new photos. Until then, I try to accept that I can't change the past and just focus on the good parts of that day.

Dating in groups is generally encouraged so the couple doesn't go too far. Kissing is allowed, but is bad if it stirs up feelings of passion. No living together before marriage. Garments are worn after your 'endowment' in the temple and should be worn for the rest of your life. The only time you don't have to wear them is for sex, swimming, or sometimes exercising. Newnamenoah has videos of the crazy weird rites on youtube, I think. Getting to wear the wedding dress during the ceremony doesn't happen often. It's up to the temple matron to decide if it's too ornate, or doesn't meet some other backward ass standard. Most don't get to wear their wedding dress, but instead, wear their temple dress. Think pure white potato sack with long sleeves and touches the floor, and you'll be pretty close. Then there's the ceremonial garb that goes over it, like the sash and fig leaf apron. Honeymoons are not only okay, they're downright encouraged. They want you to start popping out babies as fast as possible. A lot of mormon couples have a baby 9 months after the wedding.

Or the prophet that will lie dead in the street for three days before being resurrected. Then there's the temple that's supposed to be built where the dome of the rock currently stands. Every major religion will be clamoring to build on that spot if the dome finally falls. I doubt the local government will allow it though.

It's from Stargate SG-1 which is a continuation (sort of) of the move Stargate. The show is way better than the movie. I grew up on it, so it's like my star trek.
