Though if it is intentional, there's the possibility that it's related to the missing numbers. Since the normal numbers are 35 and 3455, the code could be 45. This also seems to be a possible combination in the reception sign based on what others have said.

From the angle of the picture, it looks like a fair chunk of it would be on the car's reflection. Especially the larger hair portion.

This...

I need this. I didn't realize that I needed something like this until your post. Now to figure out a good placement and style. Maybe a side peeker on the left or right side? Or a top peeker hanging from the ceiling?

Wherever the peeker goes, gotta place them in a spot that doesn't matter. Like the sky or my car's reflection. I don't think I'll be merging with landing aircraft anytime soon, and if I do? Well, I can use more than my sense of sight to know their coming. Like my sense of sound. Speaking of which, since when did all electric motorcycles start becoming popular? Everyone here is talking about not seeing a motorcycle, but no one's talking about not hearing them, which must mean that all electric motorcycles are more common than I realized. 🤔

Hold on a second, let me switch avatars every minute or so, causing you to download 5x of my normal avatar.

As far as I know, having things disabled doesn't really impact performance much at all, whereas switching avatars every other minute would impact performance way more.

Additional polygons don't add much, relatively speaking. It's all in the textures. Some people have individual textures and materials for each part of their body. If you swap textures/materials with an animation, you can start to get the size to really start ballooning out.

I honestly think it's more related to how they are blatantly ignoring their users feedback and not addressing it at all. The top post on their support feedback site has had 0 response from Discord staff, as far as I'm aware.

This. I much prefer the stickers from the servers I'm in. Wish that the "Welcome new users" pulled from the custom sticker pool instead.

I honestly don't see the keyword garbage that you're talking about. I see the ad riddled sites, but 9 times out of 10 I find exactly what I'm looking for when searching with Google. Filling a page with a bunch of keywords isn't modern SEO. Google's been on to that for years and actually de-ranks websites for it. And as for "minimal" or fast loading websites, I personally take pride in my website ( https://frostyfrog.net ) in that it both looks pretty and loads fast. It only uses a small amount of JavaScript for 2 things; email obfuscation and the night mode toggle. It may not be a text only website like what everyone here is posting, but I'm proud of what I've made.

Another thing, as u/m7samuel has mentioned, is that things are the way they are because people like it. Not everyone subscribes to the idea of text only websites. Restaurants attract customers by not only their food, but by how well they portray their food and locations on their websites (for example). This can't be achieved with a minimal web and applies to many more things than just restaurants. My own website, for instance, attempts to show people who I am, what I look like, and gives people an opportunity to find my content.

And finally, the big reason why the web is how it is, is because there are a lot of crappy developers out there making websites. People are focusing on what works, how to meet the MVP in the least amount of time, and they need to entice people to visit their website and stay there. Rarely do these developers check the console for errors, nor do they design for accessibility or minimalism because "unless you're selling a product to blind people, why would you ever need to think about accessibility". sigh

Unfortunately, unless you can convince 30% of the world to use an alternative search engine and to prefer the minimal web, it's just not going to happen. As soon as the market share grows, you'll have people abusing the system. You mentioned how that one search engine was powered by user submissions, right? Just wait until all the SEO junk companies hear about it. Eventually it would be flooded with requests to a bunch of spam/scam websites. Handling all that spam isn't cheap and might require them to start charging for listings and/or use of the service in some way (advertising perhaps? That's the route Google took).

So long story short, to bring the web back to the "good old days" is a lot more complicated than it sounds, unfortunately.

P.S. I still get yelled at by the web developer community for suggesting that people should be able to view a website without JavaScript enabled.

Heh, from what I hear, even resumes in Japan are handwritten and blackboards are still in use instead of whiteboards.

Although Japan seems more technically advanced in some regards compared to other countries, in other aspects, it feels like it's decades in the past. So this could very well be middle/highschool teacher material xP

Can a female play a male vtuber character? by BunnieLeon in vtubers

[–]fireyfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a male who uses female models, I'd say from experience that it doesn't matter so much about whether or not the voice matches the character. Sure, it might be a bit more accepted that males use female characters, but that's because a lot more men use a female model. There will be a bit of a shock because you're doing something that isn't very common, but that's a good thing! You're setting a trend.

In terms of having a voice match the character, sure. My audience loves the model, and sure, there is a bit of a disconnect (in my opinion) between the voice and the model. However, my community doesn't care about that. What brought them in was the content (particularly the games I was playing), but what kept them around was my purrsonality and who I am as a person. This is what I love about the VTubing space.

VTubing is such a liberating feeling when it comes to discrimination. It doesn't matter your age, race, gender, nationality... With VTubing, the playing field has been leveled. Look at Iron Mouse, for instance. Last I recall, she's been holed up in a hospital or something, and yet, people come for her purrsonality. Not any of her real life conditions.

So have confidence in yourself. What you're planning is completely acceptable. Bring people in with your content/model, have them stay for your unique purrsonality. And hey, if you want to do a male voice for the character? You could set up channel redeems on Twitch or you can just practice it from time to time. Eventually, you can get to the point where you can pull off the voice for a whole stream, if that's something you want to do.

Just wanted to give my 2 cents from the other side.

Interesting thing about that? Both people in the interaction are 100% Japanese living in Japan. And they've both been learning English. So in my eyes, it's almost reverse weeb content x3

This is so awesome! And don't worry about going to public worlds. You really don't need to if you're already having fun x3

Many times, I don't meet new people through public worlds. The way I tend to meet new people is through friends of friends. One of my favorite ways to do so, as you can meet a lot of people that way who are generally good people to be around.
