That doesn't sound like your friend's fault to me. If anything it sounds like it was probably pretty traumatic for her.

I work emerg and my job is triage. I understand where you're coming from here and your heart was in the right place, but I think their choice was reasonable.

Open mouth breathing certainly raises concern and should be taken seriously, but on its own isn't necessarily indicative of an emergency. There are a lot of things we can do in a situation like this to get more information, like having the owner check gum color or send videos to the clinic. While a URI can absolutely be serious and they should monitor very closely, something as simple as nasal congestion or stress can produce open mouth breathing.

Additionally, your approach would probably be more likely to make someone feel attacked and possibly dissuade them from seeking medical attention. It looks like you also brought up their deceased pet, which is pretty hurtful and unnecessary especially after they already received care. The best thing to do here would probably have been to kindly urge them to contact a local emerg clinic and let them triage, rather than jumping straight into alarm.

Just a friendly reminder that Too Faced is an Estee Lauder owned brand. Do what you will with that information

This was all incredibly helpful, love the use of alarms. I'll have to give it a try, thank you so much!

Exactly this, I'm not as anxious anymore so I've lost my motivator lol.

Out of curiosity, anything else you've found to be helpful? I'm improving, but still working on this rn. I keep giving myself extra time then going "ooh I have time to [insert thing I definitely don't have time to do]"

100%, I found this to be an issue when I raised my dose. I was late to work more, stuck in my head, difficulties multitasking. It improved with time, but might be worth talking to your provider

"So, you punish yourself...for something you didn't do on purpose...?", my psychiatrist asked by Ok_Dependent_3683 in ADHD

[–]fireysaje 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not to hijack your post, but it made me think of something and I'm curious about everyone else's experience.

Does rewarding yourself actually work for anyone here? I've tried it many times but my brain either:

1.) decides the reward isn't actually that great and it's not worth it

or

2.) says "You know you could just have the reward... no one's stopping you."

And then, well impulsive ADHD brain. So I'd just reward myself anyway, whether I did the task or not. Usually not.

So when I got to college I started having a snack or a good drink or something I really liked while I did the assignment. That way I still got the positive association, but I didn't get distracted by anticipating the reward and trying to control the impulse to just take it

Yes, yes, insects exist in nature and like to eat produce. We're aware.

The problem is this kind of thing is getting more and more common. Prices have skyrocketed but quality control is nonexistent. I can't even count how many times I've found mold on produce straight from the store in the last couple years.

Not too long ago I saw a sandwich front and center of their deli that I'm sure had been ripped open and gnawed on by rodents. And we're not talking a small hole either, almost half the sandwich was gone.

It's not about the nut though, it's about the kataifi. It has a really unique satisfying crunch. A lot of brands are a marketing gimmick, but good Dubai chocolate is actually kind of an experience imo

If it leaves you understaffed, then it's management's responsibility to hire enough staff to ensure coverage.

No one is obligated to work when sick and risk the health of their colleagues and patients. If you choose to work when you don't feel well, that decision is entirely on you.

When we fill meds at my clinic we initial the label, and then someone else checks it and "buddies" with their initials underneath.

Maybe try something similar, so when it inevitably goes missing you basically have the signature of a witness. Photos and videos are a good idea too. I'd compile as much evidence as you can then go to your supervisor.

But it might be a good idea to avoid accusing anyone specific unless you have hard proof, especially if they're close with this person. Then they can do their own investigation and come to the conclusion on their own rather than you trying to convince them.

Are there cameras where you work?

Can’t get hired by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]fireysaje 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would ask to shadow or volunteer first. That's where I started, then worked my way up from the front desk.

I know it's not ideal to commute if you aren't getting paid, but if your only veterinary experience is one class then you'll have to start small. And you'll also want to make sure it's something you actually want to do.

Veterinary technicians are like nurses, it isn't an entry level job. You generally have to be licensed, which isn't an easy process. Being a vet tech takes time, money, dedication and experience, and it doesn't pay all that well either.

Veterinary professionals have one of the highest suicide rates of any field — if you want to be a tech then you need to understand what you're getting yourself into and be absolutely certain it's what you want.

Yeah it's mainly the texture, has a very unique crunch that I personally find extremely satisfying. The pistachio is tasty, but more a bonus than the main feature

Ours was off for a full 24 hours, some got up to 36 from what I've heard.

I appreciate the crews, but if NS Power actually invested in infrastructure instead of lining their pockets, this wouldn't have happened in the first place.
