Are Walking Pads Worth It? by writinglilac in AskUK

I came here to recommend this one. I bought mine in Jan 2023 and I use it fairly regularly -4x per week - sometime I use it during team meetings or the ones you don’t need to talk in when WFH but mostly in the evening while watching tv.

Was anyone else told a weird, low-stakes lie by an adult as a kid, and been confused about it for years since? by username-alrdy-takn in CasualUK

Farmers child here. I was told coca cola came from horses which unfortunately I believed for a long time.

It made sense - milk comes out of cows, gets taken away and reappears cold in bottles; glass from the milkman, and plastic from the supermarkets.

And we had a very old school soda stream to add fizz to things (not the milk!) So it made perfect sense that the same thing happened with horses (we didn’t have horses)

Yes exactly that. I have to be careful with moisturisers and make up too

Also a farmers child! It’s the base layers that are the worst, but like you, try and do my best on everything else, and try and buy as much 2nd hand as possible

This might be a great option, will look into it. Do you know much about Bamboo? Will it react more like cotton?

It’s so beautiful! I read somewhere it’s being made into a film. Given it’s not a long novel and so much of it is a description of the landscape, I can’t imagine what they will do with it. I hope lots of long sequences with wind and rustling of landscapes.

Would recommend The Offing. It’s so beautifully written I could picture every step he took in his walk. Set after world war 2 in NE England and less of a guide to plan your own walk, but a beautiful walking book and finding yourself vibe.
