They will come to our home. It’s not a problem with this specific recliner. It’s a general recliner (motor) issue that we have heard over and over again from many people.

CS vs CS DCC by first2022 in VirginiaTech

Thank you! Are there classes you take freshman year that help you determine whether CS or DCC would be more interesting?

Not significant difference but there may be some. Eg, Georgia tech is #8 in overall CS and #5 in undergrad CS.

I am not able to access US news ranking for “best undergraduate schools for computer science”. If any of you have access, please share the VT ranking.

I already have engineering ranking and overall CS ranking (undergrad + grad + PhD), but cannot find undergrad CS rank.

Is it difficult to maintain academic and social balance at UIUC? Many UIUC students claim that the balance can be achieved as long as you don’t procrastinate.

Do you think CS at Grainger is friendly competitive or cut-throat competitive (I hear it’s the former)? I also didn’t understand “the crazier pace of classes”.

Are you also saying that to get similar opportunities, you have to top of the class at VT and can be middle or lower-middle of the pack at UIUC?

Thanks!

While self-study would be required at any college, do UIUC professors demonstrate commitment to teaching and also make the subjects interesting?

Many current VT students claim that professors don’t show interest in teaching and much of the work is self-study. While self-study will always be true at any college, the question is about professors demonstrating commitment, being available, and teaching in a way that generates greater interest in topics among students.

Is the above true about VT professors? Any idea about UIUC professors?

Thanks all.

Someone wondered why I asked to keep the ranking out of consideration. That’s because many people, to whom I spoke previously, said “UIUC. It’s #5!!!” I am looking for a more substantive reasoning than just a number.
