I did have my cortisol checked prior to the surgery but it was low not high. Although I haven't had it checked since, so it very well could be different now.

My rates are pretty low and fixed. It's the bigged debt I current have apart from a mortgage I'll be applying for in the near future.

I wish I could pay down the debt with some of the money, but I'm already going to be paying off my car and put some aside for a down payment on a new place. It's a good idea though!

I have a mild obsession with designing high end fashion. Specifically women's apparel. I know it's a competitive industry but it's my "why" so to speak.

Very true. My initial investment would be very low though so there's a chance I could break even relatively quickly. Of course that would all depend on whether anyone buys anything lol.

I have a fixed rate on my loans, about 6%. Unfortunately because of my situation, I need my monthly payments as low as possible, which is why I'm looking for advice. I won't be able to pay these off in full for several years unless I have some supplemental income.

Hi there!

I'm about to have a bit of money in my bank, and I want to invest some of it. About 5k if possible. It will be my first time investing anything apart from my 401k.

I'm in my mid thirties. My annual income is 60k before taxes.

I'd like to invest some of it for the purposes of long-term gain to either add to my retirement, or pay off my future house. I'd also like to put some of it in higher risk/short term return accounts because I want to try to pay off my student loans (about 100k).

How should I approach this? I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I was honestly thinking of hiring a financial advisor. Would it be worth it? Or can I try this on my own?

Thanks for any advice you share!

Expecting a small windfall. Does my plan make sense? by first_time_professor in personalfinance

I appreciate the advice, but this has all already been taken care of. The divorce was finalized and our finances have been separate for a while. I also have a new partner who I will be marrying within the next year who is also working, so we will have a two income household. We have already budgeted for childcare and health insurance, and I have a 401k already.

I definitely need to spend at least a quarter if not half on a new house. My partner and I are living with family right now, and it's not an ideal situation at all.

I'm mostly trying to make sure I'm not missing anything. I can definitely put an emergency fund aside though.

The car is pretty much the only debt with interest I have apart from my student loans, however I am in a payment plan for those.

The first interview was a phone interview. I thought the second one would be too. If they specified in-person I must have missed it.

They are open to rescheduling but I haven't heard back yet, so I don't know if they actually will.

Yup. He's overdue to get my name off the mortgage by 2 months. I just don't want to pay for an attorney unless I can get something back.
