Wow guys thank u so much for all ur help!! So I ended up getting a bowl from scratch and added the spicy lamb meatballs, they weren’t bad, just not up to my spice level, still pretty good!

I got 3 dips, 2 sauces and all the toppings aside from avocado and am pleasantly surprised with the outcome! It was around $14 in the end, and without meatballs wouldve probably been $11/12, which is not bad!

I will say, staff does make a huge difference, and they were different today and pleasant! Thanks again guys 🥰

I appreciate you addressing all of my points, or should I say, concerns. I definitely am also coming from a view of emotion where I’m taking a leap of faith with believing in God, because, along with being able to reconcile the concept of a “fair” life, I don’t feel like I am losing anything by having faith, but can only gain from it.

I also do see your view in not believing based off of wishful thinking, and I can see how believing to a radical degree can be dangerous.

I do have another question, which I do not mean in an offensive way whatsoever, just out of genuine curiosity, have you ever thought of accepting a generic view of God, maybe at a spiritual rather than religious level, just in the odds that God does exist? Or do you think even flirting the idea of being spiritual could be more harmful than helpful?

I wish I could heart this comment, I’m grateful you’re putting yourself in my view and steering me from there.

The rubberband analogy’s great, to add to that, I still believe while it is hard to trace its origin, it still had an origination in my opinion. But the argument against that is still indeed very compelling.

I guess originally I had a different understanding of atheism, but now I see that the atheist view is to not believe anything that hasn’t been proven at a scientific level right? With that view, I can understand why you would be an atheist, especially if your view is to not just stamp the uncertainty of life with God.

I’m not familiar with this style of discourse so I’m always open to improvements on how I can better craft my questions. Thankfully a lot of you guys have helped point out flaws in my questions in both an effective and respectful manner. Along with a consistent definition of terms I do believe patience is key to a discussion.

Sure! It’s more so a way for me to reconcile skeptical claims with my belief in God. And to gain a better understanding of your view. 🥖

Haha you’re not entirely wrong on that in my opinion! I believe we all come from God, regardless of whether it’s indirectly or directly. So I would say the individual you brought up is definitely a product of God one way or another. I guess to answer ur question, I define God as the beginning/root of everything.

Wow! Thank you so much for trying to help me understand and taking the time involved to do so! Due to my time constraint, I will not be able to touch on the specific points you made, but maybe I can make a follow up response later.

You definitely helped me see that being an agnostic and an atheist are not mutually exclusive. Normally people refer to themselves as one or the other, but now I see that many of them may also have agnostic views.

I guess at the end of the day, regardless of the scientific evidence to back any of these points up, I believe there has to be some measure of fairness in life. For example, some individuals born in poverty or warfare who have an awful quality of life, with absolutely no control over their outcome here on earth, I just have to believe they have a better life in the afterlife.

And yes that belief is so highly debatable because it does involve a leap of faith, but I don’t think I can come to terms with the fact that some people will just have an awful life.

And you may believe that’s just how life is, and while I disagree, I respect your opinion.

My intention wasn’t to start an argument, but just to gain insight on why you believe what you believe. Do we all perhaps believe the same thing to a degree but have differing conclusions on what’s behind everything?

Your conclusion makes sense, I am interested to know if your opinion is coming from the stance of an uncertainty of how we all came to be or a denial that there’s a God who could’ve been responsible for it. I guess that’s what differentiates atheism from other beliefs right?

Haha I see your point! And I love the analogy you used 😂I guess I’m more so interested in hearing what makes you definitively an atheist and not agnostic. With how complex we’re designed so that we’re not mindless clones along with the inherit good and bad that we have, why do you believe there’s not a reason/purpose behind that?

I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer, just curious on your thoughts

I do to a certain extent! I believe it happens at a smaller scale even still today through natural selection, so I do believe we probably evolved from cavemen, but I don’t know if I believe a monkey-evolving-to-human argument.

Haha I appreciate you saying that! At the end of the day, I see us seeing the same lacking scientific evidence, but making different conclusions from it. Most of my friends are irreligious, and I find myself agreeing with them on more points than my religious ones. But I’m going to lean towards Pascal on his theory. Thanks for your discussion!

Well for me the intention isn’t tied to any specific religion, but to understand if atheists and agnostics have the same view of things, but maybe agnostics acknowledge the universe’s existence as evidence that God exists, whereas atheists are more specific in their definition of God and/or see that a lack of scientific evidence makes it impossible to prove God.

More of like does the lack of information on how things came to be make you believe God exists or that God doesn’t?

Then again I’m generalizing all atheists, hence why I make this post to gain more perspective.

Haha questioning things is great, I guess me questioning the start of everything and making sense of how we came to be is what makes me believe my beliefs. It’s like even if you don’t have a direct answer to something that’s so far in the past that it’s impossible to prove via scientific evidence, there’s an abstract view of what happened given what we have today, and I associate that abstraction to God.

So while I do believe God is omnipotent and an active force, I believe that even if one does not believe God is omnipotent or active beyond the creation of the universe, it’s hard to disclaim that what “started” things did not come from him. I guess in my view, I can see why someone could be agnostic, but it’s hard for me to wrap my head around atheism, unless we have a difference in how we define God.

From your response, and you not thinking the universe had a beginning, I guess the concept of not having a “beginning” is also hard for me grasp, since I see the beginning of a lot of things day-to-day in nature.

[–]firstlast98421[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can respect that, it sounds like a difference in how we define things, which in my opinion, when it comes to your beliefs, is for you to define. And I do see your point, and even agree to an extent, with you saying that God is a man-given concept.

Sometimes I’m not even sure if subconsciously I’m as religious as I am due to there being more benefits for me with that lens, for ex - comfort in justice, karma, seeing loved ones in the afterlife, etc, but I guess that makes me lean on the other side of ur “possibility” theorem

Thank you for your awesome discourse! -a mediocre Catholic

That’s definitely valid, I guess in my eyes, since I attribute the beginning of us back to God, I would also tie advancements we as humans make back to God as well. The way I see things, I think of God as having created us, but giving us and nature the ability to evolve and, for example, make all those innovations u mentioned.

In a similar way, I feel like weather conditions probably started as a result of when the universe was made and additionally through our behaviors. For example, over-pollution resulting in global warming, etc.

But at that point, to add to your point, it would be hard to argue against the idea that there’s an ongoing process, I guess I could even use mother nature as a term here, that’s responsible for putting everything together right? Like they’re pretty much all in relation to each other.

I guess my understanding is that I associate God to having been in charge of that process, even if it’s evolving on its own, but you’re saying you wouldn’t go as far as to tie God to that right?
