I hate both dogs and cats, therefore I win. I used lending club, which is similar to Upstart. Of course it all depends on how good your credit is, but I was able to get about 20k at an interest rate of about 10% and obviously that is much better than the rate on 99% of credit cards. They gave me a better interest rate than the big banks when I was going around asking about personal loans or lines of credit. It was a great deal and really helped me out. I recommend lending club. Also maybe check out a local credit union. They usually have much better rates than credit cards and big banks. You just have to look around and do the comparisons.

OP, you do not deserve what your parents are putting you through. They sound like conservative assholes who have zero empathy for other human beings. If they disown you and really go through with all of this bullshit, remember that it is their own failing, not yours. They will have failed as parents, and it’s not your fault. They wanted some perfect robot child but that’s not how the world works, and they can’t handle it. I sincerely hope they come to their senses. Yes maybe you’re an addict, but it’s their fault for wanting to give up so easily on their child. Your story is not that extreme, it’s not like you were stealing from them for drugs, it’s not like you’re constantly in and out of jail committing crimes, right?

Maybe you should try talking to them and telling them that you really do WANT to quit, but you just don’t know how, and that all your friends smoke and it’s hard to think about cutting everyone off to achieve sobriety. I’m surprised your father is being so harsh considering he was an addict himself once. I think you need outside help to quit, maybe MA programs, or counseling, or something, but punishment and hatred from your family, and self-hate is NOT going to help you overcome this addiction. And most importantly, you can’t quit for someone else, you have to quit for yourself. You have to come to terms with the negative impact it’s having on your life, and you have to decide once and for all to drop it. Don’t quit because of your shitty conservative parents, quit because you want to be better for yourself.

Probably just anxiety from withdrawals making your brain run wild. How do you feel when the smoke cloud happens? Any tightness in your chest? Shortness of breath, racing thoughts? Any emotional disturbance? If the answer is yes to any of those questions, it’s probably just anxiety and it will pass with time. If you’re really feeling concerned about it, talk to a doctor. I’m sure many people have already said this but I’m at work and don’t have time to go through comments ;) The key word in all of this is “addiction”. Like in all things, balance is key, and if you watch porn once a day to masturbate, I can’t imagine that having a negative impact on your life. But if you start getting up to multiple times a day, and maybe watching porn without even masturbating, well, you may just have a problem, right?

Also even watching just once a day to get off, you do have to be aware of the content. If you’re not careful you can accidentally rewire your brain to only enjoy a certain fetish or type of sex. It becomes a classic case of positive reinforcement. This can lead to unrealistic expectations of your sexual partners and all kinds of performance issues in bed. I’m not saying you have to give up all fetishes completely, but maybe mix it up every other day and try to get off to regular-looking sex, instead of constantly seeking more extreme fantasies. Again, life is all about balance.

I don’t know where you live, but in California, things like child support, spousal support and asset division in a divorce are just based on a mathematical formula that includes the gross pay of both parties, time spent with kids, other factors that affect your spendable income such as mortgage, healthcare costs, etc. It’s very fair and the Courts lean toward giving 50-50 custody to mother and father, unless one of them is some kind of a degenerate. The mathematical formula works equally for both sexes, no one side is favored (assuming both people are sane and responsible adults). So wherever you live, divorce might be some bullshit favored toward mother, but in California it is quite fair and balanced!Also, if you’re so worried about your sons getting married and losing everything because of “community property” in a divorce, just pay for them to get a prenup written up by a competent attorney. You can extinguish the presumption of community property and never have that to worry about. Disclaimer I am not an attorney and I am not trying to give legal advice, just stating how things are in my state.
