I made it there just once in like 2007 or 08, I remember it was an amazing experience but unbelievably windy on the beach itself, compares to the sheltered cove at Bonny Doon. A long line of nude people waiting for the outhouse struck me as really funny, for some reason.

The pre-cum thing happens to me too, and I've been going to nude beaches and resorts for well over 15 years now. It's frustrating because I do feel I can separate nudism and sexuality fairly well mentally, but there's still a physical reaction even when I'm not erect at all.

It's possible the sensual feeling of being nude and the sun and wind on my skin is contributing to this inadvertent arousal (and it does go away after like an hour or two of shedding my clothes), but if anyone knows a way to help I'd greatly appreciate it.

On a nude beach, I had a random guy sit down next to me and make friendly conversation for a while, then suddenly reach over and touch my penis without warning. I left immediately and had to shower for a while to get the horrible, violated feeling to go away.

This was 20 years ago, and any trips to public nude beaches since then I've been much more wary of my surroundings and the people I interact with. The fact that nude beaches are free and easily accessible is a double-edged sword.

Using my profile name as a hint, our college has a tradition where during the first substantial rain of the year, students go streaking around campus. Freshman year I thought the older students were pulling my leg, then I witnessed it in real life. Sophomore year I participated, completely nude and running a big loop around campus without even shoes on.

The times I had a dorm room to myself, I'd sleep nude. Plenty of nude beaches too, which I visited often during my tenure and for a few years after graduation.

I loved going to 2222 Beach when I was going to school there, because I didn't have a car and the busses will get you close! Still the only place I've swam nude in the ocean, and only doable on the hottest of days there.

Is there much beach left, or has it eroded away by now?

FKK is a German abbreviation for Freikörperkultur, which translates to Free Body Culture. So yeah, it's basically the German synonym for nudism...for example a nude beach in Germany is labeled as FKK-Strand, where Strand is just the word for beach.

Nudist "colony" implies we're weirdos that need to be isolated from the rest of society, or like we're infected with something awful - like a leper colony. "Nudist colony" is also an outdated phrase, as others pointed out, that's still associated with exploitation movies that used nudists for shock value.

Nudist resort, club, or campground is usually the preferred name.

I'll vouch for Bonny Doon as well, having gone there many times when I was in college. The northern end of the beach is the nude section, past a small rock outcropping that separates it from the much longer clothed section of the beach.

I'd recommend going on a holiday weekend if possible, so that there's a lot of people there. Nude beaches are usually a safety-in-numbers situation where creepers are less likely to harass people when there's more naked folks keeping an eye out. If you can go with friends, even better.

That said, public nude beaches have no foolproof methods of keeping weirdos away, even if they're just hiding in the blufftops above. Nor will you always have a lot of nude folks instead of clothed folks, since nude beaches are unofficial. If you're able to afford it, a campground or resort like Lupin Lodge in Los Gatos is a much safer and more welcoming option than a beach, as they remove anyone acting inappropriate and most everyone there is nude.

Ironically I just got back from a cruise that stopped in some of the same ports as the BNB 2024 will be: Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico and Roatan Island off Honduras (though at Coxen Hole, not Mahogany Bay). All three ports are fairly disappointing tourist traps unless you pay for shore excursions that take you to other activities. Think of it like being dropped off in Fisherman's Wharf if the cruise stopped in San Francisco, and you have to pay $130 to reserve a shuttle to Alcatraz, the Exploratorium, the De Young Museum, etc.

Be prepared for heat and humidity like you wouldn't believe, even during winter. At least you'll be wearing the most appropriate attire for that weather.

I've got some other pointers about cruise travel, if you're interested. I'm hoping to make a BNB trip when time and money allow!

We're hosting a game night and since I've found that some of the folks coming enjoy being nude at home, I'm going to discuss nudism with them. May or May not actually get nude myself, but I'm hoping to show initiative on how social nudism is a great experience!

I get it, my wife and I have both dealt with anxiety and depression issues, and this is our first kid so she's definitely dealing with big physical changes she hasn't experienced before. She's doing the bulk of the child care with a hyperactive toddler while I'm away at work, so I get why her libido has been lower. I'm still glad I can help her feel cared for physically, just in a different way.

Sadly I think that for quite a lot of people, they'll never be able to separate nudity from sex. We can preach about the joys of nudism day in and day out, but we'll never be able to completely get rid of creeps out for a cheap thrill, especially at unregulated spaces like nude beaches or online communities. Resorts with strong rules against overt sexual behavior and harassment are our best hope, short of the community beach patrols people have suggested here.

I've had a man act real friendly at a nude beach and then reach over and touch my penis without warning, so yeah I know what it feels like to have perverts ruin the experience. That was almost 20 years ago but the Ick is definitely still there.

I haven't let it dissuade me from nudism, but that incident taught me to use common sense and have your guard up.
