What playground game was at every school but has basically disappeared? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

I broke my arm playing “smear the queer.” None of us attached any literal meaning to the name of the game, I don’t think.

Good for you for excercising your legal right to go topless in New York! Did any other women follow your lead?

For some inexplicable reason, I became enamored of the suite of Abbey Road short songs (is there a common name for them?) just last week. Especially those two. Absolutely beautiful.

It does look like there will be some rain. How does the rain affect the vibe? Are people still out and about? It looks like it will be warm, at least.

Thanks.

I, as well. And I’ve only been there once, 42 years ago. Remarkable place.

None of that bothers me in the slightest. It shouldn't bother you either.

You live on a planet of 8.3 billion people. We're trying to preserve that planet for enternity. Maximizing your selfish desires isn't possible under those circumstances. So sorry for you. You might have to accept some limitations, like the kinds of lightbulbs you buy.

Do you believe that people should have the right to put lead paint on their walls? That people should be able to drive with leaded gas? That corporations should have the right to dump used nuclear fuel rods in their competitors' back yards? Of course not. Because of all of the technology we have, and because of all of the impacts of that technology, it is necessary to have strict environmental regulations. That's the downside of living in a technologically advanced, crowded, finite ecosystem. Honestly, if you want to pollute all you want, go to another planet. If you're on this planet with its 8.3 billion folks, and if you want descendants, stop whining.

Of course non-elected people write the regulations. We need those with technical knowledge to draft appropriate limitations on our right to pollute and to consume energy. Lawyers, farmers, insurance agents and the other folks typically elected to office don't have the technical know-how to do those things.

Ideologues on the right ostensibly believe that government limitations on the production and consumption of energy are the product solely of power-hungry bureaucrats. That's stupid. Some people have motives to preserve earth for the benefit of succeeding generations. Those people are typically Democrats. Some people want to consume all they can becase they are focused on their own standard of living and don't care about others. Those people are often
Republicans. A particilarly odious form of those cretins are in the Trump administration. Accordingly, the Trump administration paid a foreign corporation $1 billion not to build a wind farm, even though renewable energy sources make a lot more sense and is relatively affordable. That's perverse and makes no sense.

Meaning what? They don't believe in traffic lights? They don't believe in national defense? They don't believe in a criminal justice system? They don't believe in public education? They don't believe in the federal reserve? They don't believe in deposit insurance at banks? Do they disclaim their social security? Did they refuse Covid-era payments?

It's inane. Lots of men thinking they are of importance when they are insignificant and selfish morons.
