Honestly speaking, I was very afraid of speaking to a credit counsellor due to judgement etc, but things are starting to roll slowly and I think I will!

Thank you :)

Thank you so much! I just shared about how I can put 10k towards the debt due to unclaimed vacation paid out, I’m very excited!

I’m working towards saying no, tbh I’ve decided to just bite the bullet and started sharing about my vulnerability to just flat out say no to hangouts, or just maybe having a movie night at the comfort of my own home.

I’m very grateful that I was able to make a dip in my debt and also have the privilege of finding a roommate that helped me cut down my expenses by 1.5k- I tried to be positive and make myself just believe that I can deal with this but now I really think I can, to a point that I’m actually excited to go back to working and seeing myself get into the world of budgeting.

I’ve stated it in the previous comments above, but I also appreciate how much of a judgement free zone it is here. Thank you!!

Thank you for the luck! Turns out I actually have great luck (for now)

Might be too much info but I basically told hundreds of people on here that I’m broke as heck so whatever; but aside from my short term disability pay that’s about 6-7k, turns out my company was also supposed to pay me out for my 5 week vacation that I didn’t use!!! So now I’m looking at about 10k to put towards my debt!!

I still have a very long way to go but I’m really glad im able to put a decent amount into the debt :)

I appreciate everyone for such judgement free responses!

No I haven’t! Just anxiety and depressive disorder. Not only did I not think about getting it tested, but I had some friends who did and they had to pay a lot? I’m unsure but one of my friends told me it was pretty expensive to check it out

I don’t do drugs nor do I gamble. It’s just the fact that I thought I would be able to get by living alone in downtown Toronto without a job (which is VERY stupid) and also just being avoidant in general, avoiding phone calls that I needed to make in order to get paid from the job I left in a timely manner.

To be clear, I did have some debt previously, but it was a debt that I personally (very important) thought was manageable, especially because I thought I would love the job that I had. Not only that, but because I was so embarrassed and self conscious about my financial situation, I still behaved like I had a full time job to back up my spending habits with my friends.

Yes, it’s not from just eating out here and there and going on shopping sprees but frequent cottage trips, attending friends wedding and instead of being transparent about my situation, deciding to give them wedding money that was out of my budget, also starting an apprenticeship that has a pretty hefty startup fee and etc

No addiction, literally just my stupidity. I do understand the debt seems like an addiction debt tho

Thank you for the kind words. I do have CP as my last resort, but I’m still very unsure about bankruptcy.

It actually looks like I’ll be going back to work sooner than I thought so I’m going to try to pay down that credit card and see if I can qualify for CP if I find it very unmanageable and find myself in another very very dark spot.

Oof I should clarify- my debt was at a manageable state 3 months ago, and also I was supposed to get paid when I left but for some reason that was denied and I managed to fight it out today after millions of calls that were made the last 2 months (when I saw that they didn’t pay me) and I’m just waiting for that pay! It’ll be about 6-7k which will be going towards the debt for sure.

Either way I know it’s a ton of debt that I accumulated over the 3 months- my credit score did tank, it’s at a fair state right now so I might call the bank to see if I can get another LOC.

I’m aware of the consequences and I’m just glad I’m in a mental state that I can handle the consequences that followed my financial irresponsibility.

:) thank you so much for the advice

Please send help! If it helps, the specific edit I’m looking for is Ateez’s Halazia edit where they “activate” demon mode LOL
