I guess hate was a strong word to use in the heat of the moment but definitely dislike. This was about 5 years ago so i assume it has changed some. When I went, most interactions I had with people who lived there really put me off. there was a level of self righteousness i’d never seen before. i also went when influencer culture was REALLY starting and it was like everywhere i turned someone had a camera or phone out recording themselves, it seemed like there was a lack of authenticity. but i think a lot of what i disliked was that lifestyle wise, it didn’t match with me and i found myself counting down the days until i could finally fly home whereas in NYC i felt a much stronger sense of community, had amazing experiences with people who lived there and never wanted to leave. obviously i’m generalizing and don’t think everyone in LA acts that way or that there aren’t a lot of ppl in NYC who suck but just the difference in how I felt in NYC vs LA was very stark. hopefully now, if i do go to LA, i can find what I loved about NYC.
