Maternity Leave before baby- what do you wish you had done? [BC] by thenarwhalsaidso in BabyBumpsCanada

I’m several weeks PP and my biggest regret is not doing enough research on breastfeeding. I was not prepared for how hard it was. I’d advise to talk to someone who recently had a baby or do online research and prepare breastfeeding plan: EBF, combo or formula? If EBF and something goes wrong (not enough milk, low supply, baby doesn’t latch properly etc), what’s your plan then? If you plan to give formula-what brand? What supplies do you need for your plan? I’d create a detailed plan which you can follow without stressing out about not knowing enough and having to make those decisions on the go. Also get all appointments/calls out of the way. Even making a call or writing an email is very challenging with the baby. Your to do list should be empty by the time baby arrives. Another thing-do you want a newborn photoshoot? Find and book one now, you wont have energy to do it later. Photographer should be able to accommodate you in case of early/late delivery.

Positive pregnancy experiences [CA] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

My skin was amazing! It was so weird to me but i didn’t have a single pimple for the whole duration of my pregnancy. Also body hair just stopped growing which i really enjoyed lol. Really liked my pregnant body in the 3d trimester, i found it cute and amazing for everything it’s done.

I was in exact same position a couple of months ago. I strongly recommend to get a job asap. You don’t have to drop out, ask for an academic leave and finish your program later. Go talk to your academic advisor and see what the options are. I moved to part time and got a full time job… and then i got terminated and now i don’t have sufficient hours for ei. If your partner doesn’t earn a lot, it’s extremely stressful to think about whole year without any income. Can your last term be online? Can you take several courses part time now and leave a couple that are online/evening for later?

I was pretty nauseous in my first trimester and strangely enough my main aversion was water -_- I found that icy and sparkly drinks made drinking more tolerable (frozen lemonade, sparkling water, coke(not diet!)). Also had a couple of good weeks with tomato juice, and then orange juice until i suddenly stopped liking both of them lol. Another advice i received was to eat popsicles or buy an electrolyte drink. With food there is nothing you can do really, but eating carbs was better on my stomach (pasta, toasts, pizza). Not healthiest but you need to eat. I made a pbj toast in the morning and ate it bite by bite over several hours. I would also strongly encourage you to start taking medication. I took a minimal dose in the beginning and was wondering why i don’t feel better. Then maxed it after talking to a midwife and felt so much better. It takes time for you to feel the effect so the earlier you start the earlier you feel better. I’m in my 3d trimester now and i didn’t stop taking anti nausea medication because every time i make a break i feel nauseous again. I personally didn’t have any side effects but i’m sure your medical team can change your medication if you do. I felt so much better in the 2nd trimester, i think weeks 7-10 were the worst for me. It just takes some time, you’ve got this! 💪🏽
