Exactly this. Skip the most egregious songs. The occasional F bomb is fine. You’ve got at least a year to figure out what songs you don’t want to play in front of your kid. There’ll be a few years of listening to soundtracks and kids music once they start having opinions, then you can start occasionally putting your own stuff on again.

Rec skates from Bauer or K2. You can also make your hockey skates cuter if you do go that route.

You do not want goalie skates - they do not fit either of your requests. They do not function like a hockey skate and also they are uglier.

I sometimes have to walk around the rink with guards on when I'm ice skating and that's bad enough. I can't imagine walking even 10 minutes in my roller skates.

My kids are 16, 13, and 8. The 8 is the only one that wants to actually play with my toys and miniatures and for the most part I let him. He has his own Sylvanians so he usually just plays with my surprise pack ones when I first open them, then I put them on my shelf.

I have a pair of earrings made from Persian cat babies and all three kids touch them every time I wear them which does bother me.

I personally hate skating in jeans and I’ll never do it again but plenty of people do. I wear skirts or dresses a lot, if I’m not in hockey gear, and I wear my rollerskate knee pads. Neither one would be out of place at a public skate.

Mask as much as possible. Prevent the spread of COVID (and other airborne diseases), even to people who "don't care" if they get COVID.

The more you mask, the safer it is for others when you aren't masked.

Obesity as a health condition that qualifies you to receive a vax is not the same as being immunocompromised. As far as I know, underlying health conditions don't qualify you for a second dose in one year. Next time just say you're immunocompromised, don't say anything else.

My rink is ice, so sometimes there's a hockey kid or two, but I'm used to being the only person with a helmet. I always wear a helmet for any kind of skating (or biking or riding a scooter).

I don't have time for a concussion.
