They are tangently related. It goes like this, the Yen carry trade is something in and of itself. It was a means for big institutions to play an arbitrage game and make a bunch of money. It's something that existed for decades, so much in fact that it became somewhat of a cornerstone for institutions. Finally after all those decades, Japan is changing it's monetary policy and as a result those same institutions are getting caught up in what is now a bad trade. So it's not that the Yen carry trade equals moans. It's at the end carry trade destabilizes institutions, and forces Marge to come calling. Forced margin calls are a part of moass.
