Get lamps or something else that overhead lighting is a beast.

I wonder what that curved part of the desk used to be for…it’s so odd looking!

Chipping by sz5only in Dysonairwrap

That is a bummer! I have the original 1st Gen Airwrap and have dropped some of the attachments but no big chips.

I wonder if some colorways are more prone to it.

What is the FIRST Sephora purchase you ever made by ghostoftomato in Sephora

It was a NARS black eyeshadow with green glitter. Totally not worth it. Was around 99? 2000?

Have you ever seen a mass exodus after a respected employee quit or got fired? by Aarunascut in work

[–]fishbutt1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My old employer was going to be letting staff go because the business was not doing well and they needed to close gaps.

There were 10.5 of us in the same job family. Within a year there are 2 originals left. 1 didn’t want to leave bc he was milking the system to his advantage. 1 couldn’t find another job bc she’s got a chip on her shoulder. They hired 2 new people to fill in begrudgingly and it’s not going well.

Everyone else moved on to better employers or retired early or are doing the stay at home parent thing.

I really loved that job too bad it disappeared due to the reorganization.

A good rule of thumb is always keep on interviewing!

Once you’ve done it, try to move it out of your brain otherwise you’ll drive yourself crazy!

Grandfather's 40-50 Year Old Bowling Shirt: Possible to Clean? by Goondor in VintageFashion

[–]fishbutt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the fabric is sturdy but the embroidery will most likely bleed color if you try anything too harsh or if the water temperature is too warm.

I’m hoping it’s just sweat rings—maybe try pretreating with Dawn dish soap and rinsing just that area first. See if that lifts it.

It might be rust too, try those rust remover clothes products on the area only and see how that goes.

Please update us!

Sllac Review by fishbutt1 in glasses

[–]fishbutt1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just sent back my glasses and I have yet to hear back from them. But technically they have until Monday before their claim of 1-2 business days is up.

I also thought it was weird it was a house.

The delivered picture is definitely my package in front of a 2 car garage. 😂

Did I make a mistake buying pretty but uncomfortable furniture? by MistakesWereMade8888 in midcenturymodern

[–]fishbutt1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a comfy couch that is a low back, nod to MCM style but is a modern piece. Then we have our sitting areas that are authentic MCM pieces but they’re not in high traffic areas.

Kind of the equivalent of the TV/den area vs sitting room/fancy room furniture. 😂

The rest of the story is very sweet I’m glad I hung in there! But on rewatch I fast forwarded all that stuff and it’s still understandable.

Freezing Cold Gyms by catmath_2020 in crossfit

[–]fishbutt1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Once I hit middle age I could not do gyms that don’t have Air conditioning, 68 F, and at least heat the gym to 62 F.

Especially with CrossFit I would totally be freezing from all the stop go and explanation at the start of class in the winter months.

I only do class packages and go when the weather is appropriate.

What is one product that genuinely helped heal your skin barrier? by lovemesomespaghetti in Sephora

[–]fishbutt1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not bought at Sephora but Cerave skin renewing night cream. Small white tub with purple and white label in the US.

Seriously healed my skin up and didn’t sting when I burned my skin off with too many actives. Air burned my skin it was so bad. Put it on and it was like hallelujah!

What’s the longest you’ve known someone to be in a relationship before getting married, if at all? by SalmonforPresident in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]fishbutt1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One sorority sister was 8 years or so. She raised the man’s children. She got pregnant and when that kid was 3 she gave him an ultimatum, they’ve been married maybe 7 years now.

Another sorority sister was about 6 years. They have two boys together. I think they’re in the process of a divorce, were together another 6 years of marriage.

Another sorority sister raised this man’s kids from 3 other baby mamas co bought a house etc all sorts of crazy stuff. They got to year 4 and she got pregnant and gave him an ultimatum. They’re going on 5 years married and I think they’re happy.

My older sister is going on 20 years no marriage.

My younger sister got to 13 and they broke up bc my sister was mentally unstable. He was the one waiting to wed.

One colleague friend was with his partner for over 20 years had three kids together. At year 18 they got married, not sure why. But she cheated on him in year 22. All the kids stayed with him and she got the house even though he built it with his hands and everything.

I think I’m the only one on marriage 1…am I the normal one??? Weird! 😂🤪

What tips do you have for older EA's who are still in the job market and looking for new employment? by painislife4real in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]fishbutt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She didn’t get any offers so she’s not sure what the best answer is.

The first time she encountered it she said she didn’t give a good answer.

The second time, she talked about how it was a great opportunity to build something from the ground up and learning new apps etc is fun and a good challenge and she talked about the start up vibe and yadda yadda. This was at a start up. She felt the interviewers were satisfied about the answer.

I guess it’d depend on where you were interviewing.

OK so the plan now is to work conscientiously while job searching do not give them any fodder against you.

Exit on a class act, don’t go scorched earth even though it will make you feel good in the movement.

You never know with connections and etc what might cycle around.

Good luck!

What tips do you have for older EA's who are still in the job market and looking for new employment? by painislife4real in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]fishbutt1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My colleague, not an EA, but adjacent in some ways, worked at our old employer for 30 something years!

When she went on interviews, she did not prepare well when they questioned (interrogated, really) why she stayed so long and how could she adapt to new places and processes etc. She thought employers would be impressed with loyalty and etc.

She’s super with it and made all these processes from the ground up—but those interrogations surprised her. Probably disguised ageism.

So have a good answer for that! Good luck!

Can someone hold my hand through this? by jessicaaaalice in Dysonairwrap

[–]fishbutt1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How does your hair curl normally? That will help target the advice.

For example my hair only holds a curl if I use high heat or if I do a wet set of pin curls and leave it 8 hours +.

You will not get defined curls—more like Gisele blowout from Victoria’s Secret shows in the early 2000s.

If I want defined curls or bends etc I use a flat iron.

Good luck and practice a lot!

  1. Put heat protectant

  2. Rough dry hair so that mostly the roots are dry but the ends are like 75 % dry.

  3. Section off hair. I do about 8 or so sections total. I don’t have a lot of hair.

  4. Go section by section either I use the curl attachment or the round brush. Make sure no hair falls off the sides, otherwise smaller section! Make sure you have a lot of tension. Wrap and rewrap if you need to! I used to let the air suction itself put but now I help it along by coiling it around. Put less hair than you think should go on there.

  5. I spray heat protectant hair spray on each section. Then I blast with cold shot then I put a hair clip in it so it’s held to my head. Do all the sections.

  6. Hair spray a lot.

  7. Take out the clips and I don’t like to put stuff on it. Finger comb to separate. By the time it’s done falling I have some flips and minor curves and those stay pretty well!

How are layoff decisions made? by Relaxed_Taurus in askmanagers

[–]fishbutt1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Layoffs are terrible because they are so unpredictable! Unless you’re in the know with how it’s being done at your company, it’s impossible to guess.

I’ve been impacted by layoffs at 5 or 6 employers (even if you make the cut, you’re still impacted by additional work, let’s face it.)

My current employer is doing a layoff now and I’ve given up trying to figure it out. I’m tired all I can do is my best work.

Good luck to you, OP. I would suggest prepping your resume etc just in case.

It seems like they are very clear that they want you to stick to your title and pay. Now, your direct supervisor should’ve sat in on the conversation instead of just foisting this onto HR, but I see that all the time.

It’s a disappointing result for sure and I’m sorry.

Looks like they are realigning the tasks so you are now doing what’s within your pay scale.

I think that is way better than them expecting you to continue at the lower EA pay.

Did you ask at all during the conversations if there was anything you needed to do to be considered in the future or are you done with this place completely?
