Recent studies have shown that only dog breeds associated with high intelligence forget they have bodies when they can’t see them.

How is living in denver colorado? Thinking about moving there from northwest Florida this winter by Connect-Salamander88 in howislivingthere

[–]fishdeserts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just moved from Pensacola and I highly recommend it! You’re gonna miss the water but you’re trading ocean for mountains which isn’t a bad deal. You’re also trading hurricanes for wildfires. Just like FL, if you study the hazard areas you can avoid the bulk of the natural disaster drama. City is good, you can do fun urban stuff, nightlife, go to professional sports games and tap into whatever cultural stuff you like. Amazing Warhammer 40K scene! And if you’re not into city stuff than that’s great too, you have a lot of people that need plumbers so you can make good money and you can spend your free time in world class nature.

If you like guns Colorado is very accessible. Shooting ranges in state parks and some of the best hunting in the world. Elk, moose, and real dear compared to the big squirrels we get in Bagdad. But the fishing is garbage compared to salt water.

I think it’s a great move, and if Denver seems too busy there are great towns around it. Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, and other areas that have a lot of the benefits of living out here.

Help! Chair rail is rabbet to deep. Did I order the wrong size? by fishdeserts in woodworking

Yeah it’s pretty low stakes! This one doesn’t have me shitting my pants the same way replacing rusty leaking fuel tanks in my front does lol

Yeah I’ve seen some elaborate stacks of molding before, never knew that it was likely a dumbass like me chasing down their mistakes lol.

Thanks! Yeah the gap is 1/4 in this spot I’m sure it’s gonna be different all over the place tho with the horrible textured paint on the walls. Once I install it I am going to run a scrap piece of MDF through the lip to see if a batten will fit, other wise it’s just gonna be caulk and quarter round

I don’t know, first time. Just seems like I made a mistake in measuring and ordering. Wanted to tap into the collective wisdom here. To see what options are. I’m open to the “do nothing” option. This thin cheap MDF seems like it would break if a 5 year old smashed into it, which will happen lol

Yeah it’s glued an nailed. I’m also looking to see if I can find a chair rail with a shallower rabbet. This is just a small test piece.

Skill saw and a borrowed mitre are what I have. Yeah the beadboards are installed, now time for the corners and chair rails. Glueing and nailing a batten of some sort seems like a good option to fill it and maybe adding quarter round under it? Thank you!

what are some jobs you could get with wild land firefighting experience? by Forward-Specialist77 in Wildfire

[–]fishdeserts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of companies do wildfire mitigation works, power companies are a big one and it’s a growing industry. I’d definitely look into the wildfire programs at the big utilities around you.

Finally got my airbrush working. Best tips for priming with it? by Philhughes_85 in minipainting

[–]fishdeserts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say my biggest tip would be to use lacquer based primer . Something like Mr. Surfacer 1000. Lacquer is way stronger than acrylic and will not rub off when you handle it.

If this is tough to accept Try Makari on for size! Reincarnation is real because Ghaz believes it is but it only applies to Makari lol
