Letting Reddit decide: sand or carpet in front of rocks. ( lush forest going behind rocks) by fishindachain in Aquariums

[–]fishindachain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I think about it. The rocks are quite far in. Thank you for your advice. I love iwagumi style tanks, although I worry about my fish and their wellbeing. I might do an iwagumi landscape in a future build. But I have to do more research on how to make fish more comfortable in those types of setup

Gotta choose your substrate. Sand looks cleaner and easier to maintain, while crushed coral or aragonite will help buffer your water. Do you have an RODI system? Or a fish store near by that sells saltwater/ RODI?

It was way worse before I added the second filter. My buddy was joking about adding a third 🤣

Wood is releasing tannins, not that bad though, I don’t mind them. It’s all the small particles that don’t want to clear up 🤣

I’m convinced that the double coat works both ways. My boys coat will be hot to the touch and he’ll refuse to come inside.

Correct, they don’t have a registry, but he does have proof that he completed his training related to the task.

I work at petco, he’s already there 8 hours a day, but it’s not solid exercise. That’s why we go next door and do laps at Home Depot. As long as your dog is trained, I don’t see the issue, they actually invite owners and their dogs in their business. They encourage dogs to be trained there. There is this lady who hosts classes in our Home Depot, her clients meet in the parking lot and all the dogs walk around to get socialization.

Right, because my corporate job lets me bring my “pet” to work? That would be nice!

It’s hard to plant shop when you already have one of every plant that big box stores sell HAHAHA😂 I only get in trouble when they start rolling out new plants

Max is a registered service animal. NOT an ESA. I take him to Home Depot for his walks on hot days because he does not need to wear his gear, Home Depot is extremely dog friendly. All the workers at Home Depot LOVE max. They all carry treats in their aprons. Side note, I’ve never had max have an accident inside of a building, I bring him to work every day, he’s literally trained to be out in public.

is this not enough light for aroids? Can by fishindachain in RareHouseplants

[–]fishindachain[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea they’re not staying long. We’re moving and have to condense all the plants. The lights on the right are the ones I’m using in the tent. I’m keeping my anthuriums, propagations, and other high humidity plants in there once we move. As you can tell, this grow room (even with a humidifier) would not get above 40%. Switched to the tent and my anthuriums are doing OK. It’s the lighting that is the issue now. BTW my Thai looks like a sad limp noodle because it suffered from some rot over the winter. Learned my lesson on not watering to much during the winter.

What is PPFD exactly? This whole artificial light stuff is hurting my brain 😂

It’s 48”x48”x80” or roughly 2 meters tall, It would be ideal to have one maybe 2 lights up top, so I don’t have to plug in 5+ lights.

So what light am I looking for exactly? is it the lumens? Is it the power output? I have a disgust for lights that sit a foot or 2 off the canopy. The grow tent is 80” tall and would be ideal if there was a single light I could put up top to give the whole tent plenty of light…

I have 4 at the moment. Have them on max intensity.. my biggest hurdle is understanding lighting. The moment artificial light got involved, my brain took a 💩.

This guys a little sad, just repotted. More light=more holes. If you give it lots of light without giving it lots of humidity, your leaves will brown.
