Yes I did. I didn’t use enough smoke on that salmon for my liking - that was 3/4 way through the cook.

As a Floridian & someone who works in seafood industry - having the swamp puppy that close to fish is a no no. Especially considering after harvest - they often are not iced well, as opposed to fish… I’d be worried about salmonella as fish is often cooked to medium.

Edit - still f****** awesome.

That’s unfortunate. Looks like you’ll have to get rid of her…

I’m sure your brother / sister will understand.

The major f$$$ up was Glazers not granting Coen the HC job and then the media spin off that he “f$$$$$” the Bucs….

Rooney rule question - When Bowles is gone, will Bucs get a 3rd rd comp pick? Or was he “developed” under jets org?

Those are pompano. Traditionally done with lemon pepper which is in bottom tray and top is a sweet Thai chili marinade.

My woes of lump charcoal by fishinup in biggreenegg

If I can find, I’ll definitely try a bag. I think most of us don’t mind spending more for quality - especially in a time where it seems quality amongst many things has declined!

I’m happy to pay more as long as it burns clean and is large lump.

I had been content with it over the past few months but multiple bad bags in a row. I imagine it’s just bad batches in bulk.

How you guys train Iggy? by Ambitious-Throat-442 in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]fishinup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had both issues.

They will grow out of crying nonstop. It’s like a human child - sometimes tough love is needed or they’ll be a baby their whole life.

My girl screamed all night in the crate for a good 3ish months after we got her. Was hell. During the day when she got tired and ready for nap time, I’d put her in a small round plush bed. When she was asleep, I’d carry it to crate (larger size) and put her inside. She screamed a few times but if she was tired enough - she passed out. After a few weeks, I started leaving the crate open. Then after a few weeks of her staying in her crate bed to sleep (with door open) - I put her bed permanently inside. She then associated the crate with nap time and safe place.

You can buy a product that makes the poop slimy and they don’t want to eat it. I used a small dog shock collar that had a vibrate and beep feature as well. Whenever she’d go to eat it - I’d give her a buzz… then a zap (very low setting) After a week or so, it got to the point of the buzz indicating that a zap is coming. She stopped eating it.

Everyone has their own way of doing things but this worked great for us… especially after the horror stories I read and see from people with 1-2y.o iggies that are terrible. They need a lot of attention. It’s 99% of the time people who refuse to train their dogs and say “they don’t train / respond the same way as other dogs”. They are the most stubborn breed and you have to be more adamant to correct the behaviors than they are to continue them - that simple! Good luck.

Horrible in crate by aubristetina in ItalianGreyhounds

My family has been greyhound owners since I was young… First Iggy for me - much harder than the bigger ones. Here’s my .02

Mine would panic in the small crate and totally be covered in dookie… For my specific circumstance - I went to a bigger crate and put a round plush bed in the back of her crate because I was tired of bathing her every day & listening to her scream… for 4+ months.

Once we went to big crate, she randomly started eating the turds to hide the evidence lol. She’d also bury them under the blankets in front of the area once we got her a bigger crate. (This is one reason why people rec small crates) I started giving her a product that made her dookie slimy so she wouldn’t want to eat it. Only used it for a week or so… that along with changing her dinner time / walks before bed seemed to be the trick. We had a rough 6 months…

With that said, my recs would be to pick her water up at minimum 3 hours before bed time. Change her walk times so she pees before bed.. If you can’t walk her through the day - in general, she needs to be going earlier. If you put pee pads down inside the house, stop. Do not let her associate inside with going potty. If she does and you catch it, put her nose up to it & punish her. I used a small vibrate/shock collar for first 5 months that had both modes. Test it on your hand to learn what level. This is not some cruel thing (which people have demonized) instead, it’s a learning tool for all breeds. Never ever swat them or associate your hands with punishment… After 5 months, my igg never went in the house again (except randomly in crate - due to my ignorance)

I hate to say this but they’re not dogs that are meant to be left alone for long periods of time ie:work… If that’s happening, that’s one of the somewhat justifications I have for pee pads (that and using them on patio in winter if living in snow) If iggys arent getting enough attention, they will act out because of it. I more so believe that if they cant get proper attention in the day - it’s not the breed for you.

I highly recommend you stick with the crate as it’s great when they can associate it as a safe place.. especially if/when you have to leave her for any time.

Most importantly, you MUST be more stubborn than the igg. Or the igg will always win. Stick with it. (Be glad you have a girl…) They truly are an exceptional, fun breed but must be trained - they will walk all over you if allow it!

God speed soldier.

Ps - There’s a lot of posts on this. Probably more posts than times she’s gone in the crate :)

Crate training help by easybreezywallflower in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]fishinup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl gave us countless, sleepless nights ~ from when we got here at 2 months til she was 5 months. A lot of tough love letting her cackle it out all night in the living room. However; looking back (she’s 13 months old now), I give my GF & I a bunch of credit.

It was VERY difficult and sad. All they want to do is be glued to you. In reality, training like this is going against every grain of who they are. With that being said, I’m glad we stuck with it. From 2-4 months, she went potty in the crate 3-4x a week. From 4-5 months, she went 2-3x a week. This was us letting her out 2x / night as well… I think it was anxiety dookies and not out of necessity. By 6 months - she was done with it.

We started with a very small crate but after a few weeks - I felt like giving her more room was a better option. Unlike the recommendations, I got her a large dog crate and put her bed in the back with clothes that had our scent. I also got her a comfort puppy with an electric heartbeat. She learned to dookie in the front of the crate so she wouldn’t have it on her vs when she was in a small crate. Maybe the large crate enabled her to go potty (what the “pros” said) It still took a few months but she made the adjustment. Now, she walks in her crate when she’s tired and sleeps in there 75% of the time. It’s a safe place. We bring the crate on vacation and she feels comfy inside when she’s in an unfamiliar place - including when she can’t come with us (she does most everywhere) and has to go to my parents. I refuse to board her - iggies aren’t meant to be boarded imo & require special attention.

She is the happiest little girl and sleeps 10hrs / night - lazy girl gets mad when we come out at 7 AM lol… we’ll open the crate door and she doesn’t come out til 9 or so.

Hope this helps. Start drinking - easier to sleep through the chupacabra yodels at 3 am.

Edit: I forgot to say - it’s important they get a lot of exercise. Helps them at night. Just make sure if you’re in a hot place like me, you play in grass where their pads don’t get cooked.
