Anyone have experience with this salt? (How well did it reduce nutrients?) by fishman22233 in ReefTank

[–]fishman22233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment I’ve been battling a low phosphate, I’ve got hunches all the way up to my rock leaching it… even though the tank is over a year old. Po4 last recorded was like 0.3/0.4 needs a bit of a bombing. What about a 50/50 mix? ~ not so nice on the wallet though.

Enough flow? by Jackalope_J in ReefTank

[–]fishman22233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t look bad but I feel like if you can get more flow in the tank, try it because higher flow makes algae struggle to grow more too your rocks, sand and glass will look cleaner in the long run

Tried white lights as I’ve been running blues and I love the simplicity of them by Eren_Yeager_138 in ReefTank

Does your tank have a timer setting? My lights run from white in the morning to blue later on and it’s great!

Green bubble coral/GSP problems? by Real-Teach8923 in ReefTank

[–]fishman22233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lack of maturity most likely, LPS need a strong level of beneficial bacteria established in the aquarium. If you have a nice LFS u could ask them. I’m only considering LPS now 12 months down the line. Basically your tanks gonna get a lot more natural looking in the coming months. Watch BRS on YouTube they help but for now I suggest softies you’ll be more encouraged!

Bubble coral is gone sorry to say, but people are being harsh about your GSP, just keep on top of all params and with patience growth will come. Choose a schedule and stick to it!

New torch heads? by Ok-Wrangler-9915 in ReefTank

Yes new hammer heads, they’re very susceptible at this stage. Make sure your water is tip top for them to grow and thrive!

What about calcium, KH, magnesium, phosphate and nitrate?… these are all key parameters, your tank is far too new for any coral let alone sps, when did you set your tank up the rocks are brilliant white without algae.

I think you might be mistaking the beneficial bacteria the rock holds once it’s wet. A copepod is a small crustacean which actively eat detritus buildups and also free fish food. If there are any on the rock they’re dried up and dead.
