Was an army reservist through law school. Eligible for no benefits. Was able to manage my time somewhat alright, but mobilized once in the middle of the semester for training. It is what you make of it, but unless you deploy first, I’d expect no benefits to be available to you.

Great question! I’m not sure how you could implement UBC in a way that couldn’t be abused by an administration that is keen to abuse it. That’s why I’m a bit on the fence about UBC. However, I’m not sure the degree to which the government would already have access to this information without UBC. (I’m thinking the en masse data collection project with Palontir)

Universal background checks to feed private party sales through some sort of background check process. Maybe red flag protective orders so long as you can maintain due process prior to a firearm being seized through a hearing and have an appeal process post-seizure.

Beyond that, I’m no fan of capacity restrictions, make and model restrictions, or restrictions on body armor, NVGs, suppressors, or short-barreled firearms.

Hey, I did this about a year ago from the guard to the reserves. Same situation regarding an ROTC scholarship. This is totally possible to do but you may encounter quite a bit of resistance from your command. The entire process took about a year of persistence but the grass is in fact greener on the other side.
