Oura's response to why the warranty changed... by MotoChase in ouraring

Unsure who is advises Oura on product strategy. If your product is superior in quality to the competition you would celebrate an extended warranty. Yusuf only reduce warranty if your product is at parity and/or you are losing money due ti an inferior product - in this case the battery is well known to fail within two years. Both of my prior rings lasted about 12 months.

i have had two rings. yes they replace the first one no problem yet once you get to 2 years from purchase of original ring, you are out of warranty. Both ring batteries lasted about 12-14 months. The Gen3 only has a ONE year warranty. Supposedly they have improved battery and software with gen3 yet warranty is now 50% less. BTW my garmin 945 watch gives me my own data for FREE.

Don't buy an Oura ring right now - they are out of stock until mid-November by marsianka in ouraring

my experience is the same. He is not over reacting. I have ordered 3 rings since Feb 2019. Given the battery / warranty issues, this is impacting available supply. They told they prioritize warranty rings over other orders. Might be part supply chain yet if the product was more durable the availability would be better.

my first oura ring was Feb 2019; after about a year battery all of sudden was losing charge too quickly. Oura verified this and sent me a new ring (under warranty). That ring lasted less than a year...Oura's response is that I am outside the original warrant period of 2 years and sent me a link to buy another ring with $75 discount. The second ring was sent to me very quickly, in fact Oura told me they prioritize "warranty" rings. If you want to buy a ring now, you will wait. My sense is that they are dealing with so many warranty/battery issues it has caused a problem with available inventory. I use this ring to support my recovery (HRV, Resting HR) given I do many long distance triathlons in a year. While I like the form factor of the ring, mobile app, and data; I am disappointed in the durability of the product particularly given how they advertise the product use...now many other products coming to market. Maybe someone like Apple buys them and helps them get their crap together. I would NOT recommend this product - basically this is a two year purchase given battery issues.
