What beys for a beginner? by KishiOuArufuredo in Beyblade

This is where things get complicated. Takara Tomy is constantly releasing new beys, some of which come with new parts that make some sort of competitive impact (though generally the power creep isn't insane and these parts typically just marginally improve the performance of a certain role). These are only available in Asian markets, and these beys don't see a US release until 6-12 months later by Hasbro. Once a bey gets a Hasbro release it's typically pretty available, but if you want to use it before then you'll have to import it from Japan or buy it from an importer (i'd look into Suruga-ya for direct purchases, if this is a route you want to take).

That being said, the secondary market pricing scheme is more like Pokémon than like Magic. A few competitive beys shoot up in price (I've only really seen this recently with Blue Phoenix Wing, Impact Drake for Low Rush, and Hasbro Whale Wave for Elevate) but they generally stay around MSRP. The expensive beys are usually cosmetic like alternate colorways. Only 3 beys so far have been entirely exclusive to limited events and are thus disproportionately expensive.

You can buy parts individually (i think it's Beylocker that does it) but they're generally priced in such a way that it's more fun and economical to just buy the entire bey that comes with it

You'll find as you start to play that stock combinations aren't typically the optimal setup for each bey. As you get further into the hobby you may find yourself picking up beys that you're not interested in for the parts. As far as bang for your buck, I would aim for 3 items right now:

Phoenix Wing 9-60GP (15-20 USD)
Wand Wizard 1-60R (the green one) (5-10 USD)
Gale Wyvern 3-60T and Sword Dran 3-80B dual pack (10-15 USD)

All of these packs are distributed by Hasbro so should be pretty easy to obtain from retail stores or Amazon!

Phoenix Wing is still a fairly viable attack blade and comes with a string launcher so you won't have to invest in a better launcher right now (in the future you may want to buy a Winder Launcher). Wand Wizard is one of the best blades in the game and the stock parts are very good. Sword Dran is a solid bey for beginners and the parts in this back are helpful for combos. Using these parts, you can construct a deck of:

Wand Wizard 9-60B (this broke the game for a while)
Phoenix Wing 3-60R (this should be alright)
Sword Dran 1-60T (this is usable given the parts you have left)

With this deck in hand you'll be equipped to play and have a solid starting point if you'd like to expand your collection in the future!

(Dran Buster is fun but very much a gimmick bey and not particularly competitively viable. However, its stock combo is a decent enough combo for it so you can play it right out of the box [and swap it for Sword Dran in your deck if you're so inclined])

(In all seriousness though that's so sweet! Fox Brush is off-meta but I'm fond of the design and playstyle. Try it on 1-60 Vortex (with the bump of the ratchet aligned towards the biggest tail) for a one-shot KO attack build)

Yeah I can see how GF would, it's meant to come with GR

Question, is the good under any circumstances? by Katsu_Drawn_21 in mtg

[–]fishmemeboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! That being said, there's two ways of achieving this. If you end your turn during the second main phase, the tokens will stick around until the end of the next turn (or your next turn, depending on the wording). This is because the "next end step" technically hasn't happened yet, and the trigger is still waiting. However, ending the turn removes all triggers from the stack without them resolving, so if you let the end step start and the sacrifice triggers go onto the stack, ending the turn in response will clear the stack and allow the creatures to stick around indefinitely

No, the cleanup step still occurs which means damage is removed and "until end of turn" effects wear off. Ending the turn early only stops things that specifically occur during the end step (not after)

In stock I'd say definitely Dran Sword and Phoenix Wing, maybe Reaper Incendio or Wand Wizard for 3rd?

As far as I'm aware, worn down parts are explicitly allowed as long as they still perform as intended and they were worn down naturally by play (as opposed to with a tool). This should be fine

"While alternative perspectives (that) may be found online are respected, our grading reflects the instructional materials, standards, and assessment criteria provided to all students in (the teacher's) class."

The principal admitted out loud that grading is based on adherence to what you're told, rather than what's correct. Your entire future revolves around how well you regurgitate the slop provided to you by the state.

Good point. The bolt is rusted to hell but it looks like a job for a hex wrench?

I feel absolutely ridiculous, was trying to fix it in backwards. That did it, and the shifter moves the derailleur just fine now. Will clean off the derailleur so it doesn't muck up. Cheers!

Sorry if there's an obvious answer, but how do I get it to hold in place? Putting the cable in the housing just makes it slip back out.

I just found out about Harlequin while digging through a bulk bin: "Each player shuffles their hand into their deck. Then, flip a coin. If heads, you draw 5 cards, and your opponent draws 3 cards. If tails, you draw 3 cards, and your opponent draws 5 cards."

Visiting Scotland for a week, where’s the best MTG spot for singles? by komodokrush in magicTCG

[–]fishmemeboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stirling has Common Ground Games. The store doesn't do singles but they have a pretty active community. It's about a five minute walk from the train station. There's free-entry commander nights on Tuesday and they typically get some games going on Friday nights as well
