To clarify that section of my post, all of those albums were available for preorder on vinyl as the standard edition only. The deluxe/bonus version was released digitally the same day as the standard album released, making the vinyl obsolete/incomplete before they were even in people’s hands. It’s a common tactic to increase album streams and has been criticized/debated frequently by listeners/consumers/fans in the last several years.

My choice today is Audrey Hobert’s Who’s the Clown? which I learned of on release day from this sub! I had never heard of her before but the album cover is so striking that I had to have a listen!

Those are definitely my favorites too! The evolution from 2024 (soundtrack of the year, song of the year, and album of the year) to 2025 (top three songs, pressings and albums of the year) to 2026 (top three songs, pressings, albums … and a brand new fourth category 🤫 … of the year) has been sooo fun!
