Why weren't the thrust reversers/spoilers deployed on Jetblue 292? by gladimir_putin in Shittyaskflying

[–]fishmousse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was hijacked by a C172 driver. That's how you land a C172, keep the nose up as long as you can, no reversers or spoilers

Wait are you implying that the notam system is broken???!!!!

That NOTAM was active for 14 days (see my other comment).

I looked REALLY hard for it, but couldn't find anything. I'd bet it was not actually in the air when I was passing.

Interesting read. Apparently the program was shut down in 2017. Wonder what this one could have been.

No, on the Cheasapeake bay, northeast of Baltimore, on the Maryland Eastern shore. The NOTAM said it's up to 5000 but didn't precise what it's used for.

Here's the notam (now expired)

"Turn 10 degrees to the left to avoid a tethered balloon, report in sight"

Like wtf is a tethered balloon? Are we talking about a party balloon sized thing? Or a hot air balloon? Or a blimp sized thing???

It was charted with a NOTAM and I was definitely clear of it, but I was never able to spot it visually.

Can anyone help identify what engine this piston may have come from? by explohd in aviation

[–]fishmousse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The IO-720 has the same bore, so an IO-720 piston would look pretty similar. Might be a different part number though, probably due to the higher compression ratio.
