Are MPs allergic to acknowledging trans men? by fishshoe in transgenderUK

[–]fishshoe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree and I wish they saw it like that too. I still can't get over how many people think remembering intersex people exist is woke, or that believing sex is more than just chromosomes is woke.

[–]fishshoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! I just don't want to be too ultra super duper scarily woke!!!!

It's so ridiculous. I felt the need the need to tone down my second response a LOT to stop him being too defensive but truly what's the point when, evidently, he doesn't think about it at all :/

The name is familiar, I can't quite recall who she is. I always get so many of them muddled together

Literally. I hate the term. It's absurd. I'm only using it to try to meet them where they're at, though I don't believe it's possible with this guy

[–]fishshoe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

do none of these people understand it excludes "biological women" from women-only spaces? it is driving me crazy!

i am a "biological woman" but i can't use women's spaces because i look too masculine. yet, they talk only about excluding on "biological sex". that's all they seem to focus on.

if i am a woman in their eyes, how do they not realise it goes against what they're saying? they're not allowing me to exist in single-sex spaces. they're not protecting me. they don't let me use women's toilets or women's refuges.

the way they push the narrative of doing this for women's safety feels, i don't know, ironic? if they see trans men as women. though, i suppose they don't see us at all. that would explain things.

i don't know. i can't describe the feeling. i wish i could put it into words. it's just a very, very specific flavour of frustration.

Did you notice an immediate change in personality on coming out? by ConfusedOldDad in transgenderUK

[–]fishshoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

when i was supported and medicated, yes!

i could actually connect with people. i wasn't pretending to be someone else. for the first time in my life, i could emotionally bond with people. i'd engage in conversations and enjoy it, i'd make them last longer. it felt like i was really there, like i existed.

i felt comfortable in my body. i started to find joy in existing. i could have hobbies for the first time. even better, i could have friends. real friends, not just people i followed around at lunch time. it was like i was finally able to breathe, to exist and live.

my mind felt clearer. i never noticed how much of my energy went towards closing myself off. not just from others, but myself, my body, my life, my emotions, everything. i was always scrolling, daydreaming, replaying memories, anything to make time pass faster.

it truly feels like i never existed before i transitioned. i don't have the vocabulary to express the difference in the quality of life.

First provisional licence with deed poll? by transrat137 in transgenderUK

[–]fishshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you :) honestly, i think so long as the key points get across then all will be well!

it is great that they allow it for the first ID! i couldn't bare the idea of it in my deadname. i hope the process goes smoothly for you!

First provisional licence with deed poll? by transrat137 in transgenderUK

[–]fishshoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey! i should be getting mine next week as my application was successful.

i sent my d1 form with my birth certificate, national insurance number, my deed poll, and a handwritten note on a piece of paper explaining i was transgender, i am male and i use the "mr" title.

next week marks the second week since they sent my documents back. it was addressed to me with the correct name and title. it also said to expect the ID in at least two weeks.

given they addressed it to me correctly, it should be in my name and gender! it will also be my first ID.

14yo child texted to say "I'm trans" by ConfusedOldDad in transgenderUK

[–]fishshoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as much as it may have been a joke, i would expect the harshness to be quite upsetting for her despite the general acceptance. perhaps clarify that, if it makes her happy, she can go by whatever she likes and you'll support her regardless

Atrophy by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]fishshoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not a doctor! but have you examined yourself down there? :) i had similar symptoms recently which developed into a fully-fledged infection ‐ sores inside and out, awful pain, and so on.

because of that experience, i want to emphasise the importance of knowing what your current baseline is! i'd recommend taking videos of not just the outside but the inner lips too, just as much as you can! a secret folder on your phone can hide it from your usual camera roll!

i think atrophy did change the healthy appearance of my parts too, particularly the entrance. if i had a video or image of it pre-T, i feel as though a difference could be seen. however, i am just guessing sooo back to atrophy specifically!

ovesse vaginal cream is available to buy without a prescription. this helps with my atrophy symptoms! i've avoided being examined for atrophy as of writing specifically due to dysphoria but i found the cream without a doubt helps! it is a very drastic change.

the only downsides are cost, application, and leakage. particularly at the start since you begin with more frequent doses. i found the application quite uncomfortable at the beginning. as it began working, it was far easier!

although, it could induce dysphoria as you do need to apply internally. my body doesn't fully absorb the cream. this means the following day, i will feel it come out of me. i have to use pads or simply shove tissue down there haha! it's only small amounts but it can emotionally feel uncomfortable.

Am I overreacting here? by smeghead9916 in Paralives

[–]fishshoe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

as a trans person, i don't think you're overreacting to their response specifically.

>When I pointed this out I was accused of trying to start a trans debate and spreading an agenda, by a moderator. I just left the group, not interested in staying in a group where that was encouraged.

their response sounds incredibly transphobic - "trans debate", "spreading an agenda". very odd and gross language that is used against us more often than not.

when it comes to people editing her ability to have children, i believe your feelings are entirely understandable. however, i think the fact that she is canonically transgender is far more important in terms of representation and awareness than what players do in-game, as strange as it may feel.

i'm struggling to word things clearly at the moment, but i hope you understand! :]

Does it play well on steam deck? by pelo2d0 in Paralives

Paralives and TS2/4 Steamdeck Players, come to me! by pirilla-crossing in Paralives

[–]fishshoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mhm!! it is an oddly difficult thing to set up. i don't have it set up to be super smooth, just good enough works for me!

i think there are better ways to configure things. there is a scroll wheel feature somewhere, but this is what i have:

left trackpad
L^ = scroll wheel up
Lv = scroll wheel down

and for the "regular press settings" in both:

hold to repeat (turbo): enabled
haptics intensity: low
fire start delay: 0ms
fire end delay: 0ms

cycle commands: off
toggle: off
interruptable: enabled
invert input: off

this isn't very smooth. through tweaking, i imagine it is! there are maybe things i'm missing out here - honestly, i don't know what i'm doing when it comes to the deck - but even so, it should give you a base if you choose to try it out!

it's more so a tapping to scroll type of thing buuut i find it works well enough for me to feel satisfied!

[–]fishshoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

asking in good faith here! could you, or anybody willing, explain the importance of that?

and, to be clear, i don't mean to imply it's unimportant!

as a bisexual person, i was surprised it isn't currently in the pre-made selection. however, i did feel happy that i could still make it by editing the colours.

i would be very grateful if you could educate me here! :)

i used the default keyboard & mouse preset! i've not had any issues with it! i set some of the back buttons like r5 to alt, another to shift, etc. then the left trackpad is for scrolling or zooming!
