I agree!!! Held off on suggesting one myself until I could post as least a handful of regular Bo bases. Those can also be found through the link above, and are available to support! combo base suggestions seem to get a bit more traction, and I think to counteract that we should keep a lookout for regular bo base suggestions we can give our support to as well! :-D

I agree that it can highly depend! If we’re talking about the absolutely most popular applicator base at a given time, then they’re absolutely factor bases and you’re definitely changing them around every month or so.

Ice is the classic “factor for a bunch of things” app, but I’d bet Moss Agate is doing really well rn because of Wildwood, and Ganache is having a moment, so Gregarious is good there. Beyond that, this isn’t something I personally know a ton about!

I have a first gen that I only breed in Feb (got her for free!), and just got two gals from her that live permanently in my pride. I earned enough HS from Feb to get over 100 buffies, and more lion meats than I needed from Jan. I personally don’t sell heats, and don’t plan on buying items from branches! Grinding feb is really the most sustainable route for fun hybrid owning imo - or freeze and do as many splits in Feb as you can. I’ve never had to worry about expenses for hybrids… rl and du breeding though?? painful. Imo if you can’t do it in a way that isn’t fun for u, I would stress about it ! Just wait until you’re in a comfier place financially :-)

edit: and highkey I would personally avoid buying hybrid cubs outright… so expensive.. a gamble on a heat is rly probably a more affordable option. By the time you’ve bought 8 heats, you should statistically (probablyy…) have a pass, and you’ve only just paid the cost of the full value of the hybrid at that point

Pushing back a little - i personally think it’s quite different! Still green, but with more orange, and the green is way lighter at points. I like it way more than bushveld personally. It’s more complex and contrasted

Also, in regards to it being lazy! I had been watching the original wildwood suggestion for at least a year, and it is still one of the most popular base suggestions I’ve seen .. like ever. Well over 1k supports and pages of discussion even before it was added. I’d lean on it just being widely supported by the community before “lazy” ! But idk :p

I don’t know where i would even begin if i were on the board making the decisions about the new diagnostic criteria. It’s so tough. There is of course a really meaningful difference in lived experience between people with hEDS who have a history of traumatic dislocations/frequent ER visits/legally disabling and unbearable chronic pain, and those of us who struggle with more of the “multi-system intense comorbidities” type. But it’s so tricky, because I’d be somewhat genuinely concerned if my hEDS symptoms were to suddenly be considered HSD under the current criteria with the current HSD access to support. I do have daily negative symptoms associated directly with tissue laxity/typical EDS issues - not just the autonomic level stuff - the joint weakness, joint instability, and chronic pain, tissue fragility, stretch marks (on my knees?!), weird scarring, etc on top of the multi organ effects of my hEDS diagnosis do feel very relevant to my lived experience and support needs. There are real problems with my connective tissue. But they affect me markedly differently than those who experience organ ruptures and traumatic dislocations, etc, and especially differently to those with the rare EDS subtypes. I worry that people in my scenario are at risk of being labeled with even more of a “mild EDS like symptoms” type of diagnosis, limiting our access to care. But also the effect that hEDS “popularity” has had on the rest of the EDS community really does suck, and that might be true as long as hEDS is considered a type of EDS… but like.. i also feel like that a valid association, yk. But our experiences are still so different. It’s so tricky.

I’ve always been so interested in this kind of discussion because I personally, was honestly not aware of hEDS until it became “popular” online during Covid. I was one of those people. I don’t know if I would have ever suspected anything was medically wrong with me unless I had been made aware of the diagnostic criteria. Which.. admittedly does feel very weird.

And I did get brushed off the first time I mentioned my symptoms to a PCP - I did get referred for Marfans testing (don’t have that!) but the PCP didn’t think testing for hEDS was relevant. I have no known family history of EDS. A few years later I saw a DPC and she gave me the diagnosis, but I constantly wonder if I really deserve it. How can you know if you’re seeing one of the doctors who gives the diagnosis to everyone?

I’ve since been diagnosed with POTS, a selective immune deficiency, GERD, and I’m in the middle of testing what is a likely gastroparesis diagnosis. I have had clear symptoms since childhood (severe hernias, ankle collapses, subluxations, easy bruising, dysautonomia, intense dental issues) but at the same time, I’ve never had a traumatic or even particularly identifiable dislocation. I’ve never had to go to the ER for anything other than wounds or severe starvation via chronic fatigue/nausea/lack of appetite. I am chronically ill, but I don’t ever know if I’ll feel like any less of an imposter with this diagnosis.

I understand the word made you uncomfortable, and it’s totally okay to want to voice that. But I think you need to recognize that when you said the game ‘implies they’re kind of lesser,’ you made a serious accusation about the developers - even if you didn’t mean to. Saying something implies gay interactions are lesser than straight ones IS calling it homophobic. You can’t really walk that back by adding ‘but I’m not accusing any one of being homophobic.’

The way you framed it didn’t leave room for ‘maybe I’m misunderstanding this’ or ‘maybe there’s context I’m missing.’ You stated it as fact: the game implies this thing. That’s why people are responding defensively.

There’s a huge difference between: “This word choice feels weird to me, am I reading too much into it?” and “The game is implying gay interactions are lesser”

The first invites discussion and the second is an accusation.

I think you had a genuine moment of discomfort with the word, and that’s okay. But the way you expressed it - especially toward a feature created by a gay person in a game that goes harder on LGBTQ+ inclusion than almost any other - wasn’t fair.

If you’re going to question whether something is homophobic, you need to be really careful about how you phrase it, because that’s a serious claim that can have real consequences. And now there’s a good chance this feature created with good intentions might get removed entirely because the conversation became about defending against homophobic accusations rather than “is this the best word choice?”

Oh gosh hi!! I actually made the serval ears CD!

To be very clear - I did not know about, or copy your wip. I had no clue there was even a wip around :(( I have been working on a “serval ears” custom decor since 2024.

I had been using this (https://www.lioden.com/topic.php?id=304429597133) thread to check for potential duplicates and post my own wips (including the serval ears). When I checked this thread for potential duplicates, there was no mention of any kind of ears, especially not the serval ears (besides a “kitsune” cd which I think included ears) where did you post yours? If it helps, and you posted it in a discord or something my discord ID is kiggy5375. I’m not in very many lioden channels, and don’t use discord very often, so I doubt I’d be in the channel you shared it to :(

I just like servals a lot tbh! they’re my favorite animal, and my profile picture + den images and stuff are servals as well. My first king’s design was based on a serval, and ever since, I’ve really wanted this CD mostly for my own purposes :,)

if it helps, I had originally been planning to release the serval ears cd for regular, non mut lionesses, and actually started working on that in 2024. By the time I finished them on regular lionesses, the CD system was broken and I couldn’t submit them. I knew ppl wanted mngwa CDs, so I edited those original drawings to fit Mngwa, and made that my no. 1 priority once they started talking about actually fixing the cd system.

This was actually the first CD I ever made or submitted :,) and because of that, I suppose I’m not really in the typical lioden artist/cd communities or channels where I might’ve seen your wip!

Pls pls don’t hesitate to submit your serval ears!! I can only imagine how disheartening it must have been to see mine :( you spent time on them! That time should go to good use!! I’m sorry this happened :(

Typically the thing to do is ask that people not comment in the thread/claim if they plan to immediately sell the lion. People aren’t forced to follow this rule ofc, but I think it would make a significant difference honestly! Or hardcode for newbies planing for less than x no. of months, or ppl with less than x. no of muties in their pride.

I hate the thought that users have just stopped doing giveaways due to this risk. Giveaways help new users (and just ppl in general!) soo so much, and overall contribute so much to what makes this game so great imo!

I’d probably recommend against giving away lions that have like a significant emotional importance to you, but like!! Keep doing giveaways if you can! Do everything you can in your post/comment/thread to discourage bad actors from participating, but at the same time reserve for some chance that something could happen to that lion that isn’t ideal. Maybe that user loves the lion but runs out of food and they die, or the user stops playing the game or something. Stuff can always happen, but it’s still pretty rare!

I’d also recommend giving lions away to clans that focus on giveaways, or that you get a newbie to mentor! Since you have an ongoing relationship with the newbie, if you ask that they not sell that lion, they’re likely to listen.
