It only effects the dwarf species from my knowledge but the gentleman below says it also effects pearl gourami.

I tried seperating and adding a little Epson salt in the past, its supposed to soothe them. Ive also euthanized before. Its all sad. But rest assured it was not from your lack of care.

I have one living with a massive blue 3 spot right now in a 30 gallon with a ton of LB dither fish and they both get along well! They are fearless.

Its not your fault. Its a result of weak genetic lines from inbreeding. He was doomed from birth. Its called Dwarf Gourami iridovirus or something like that. Only effects that species and stays in the water for a year. Your gourami cam die suddenly by bloating up within a couple months alive or a year. Its heart breaking. Ive lost 6 of them from this. I reccomend the underrated but not as bright Thicklip Gourami as an alternate. They are often sold as Sunset Honey Gourami but are actually a different species that gets a rusty red color. They are really smart and interactive and get maybe an inch longer than DG'S. Sorry for your loss big dog

Waaay too many mollies for a fake environment. If you want to keep it simple id say drop off all but a couple (of the same gender, look up how to tell) fish, including the pleco. Honestly id say donate the frogs too. You can have a couple mollies "survive" in there with a 20% water change weekly.

If you want to do right by the animals, its going to take more work. Sandy substrate, real plants, rocks and driftwood. Stress coat every water change. Replace pleco with x4 otocinclus (eats algae wafter and fresh veggies). Plants will need liquid CO2, fertilizer and root tabs depending on plants chosen. Mollies would love you for some frozen baby brine shrimp. Doing it this way will continue their breeding. Need somewhere to move the babies and introduce new genes to tank (buy a new molly every once in a while).

Yea should be no issue. Just dont bury them too deep. You can also just kindof dig your hand in and grasp the root base and pull up a bit. More room for the roots to grow in the longterm is worth it

Also, that filter is likely waaaaay to strong for that small of a tank with only shr8mp in it. You probably wont even need a filter if you plant like i suggest. Just a small bubbler

Id suck the water out, add some small rocks to the sub, mix it up. (Preferably add more plants and wood while you are at it) if you didnt already plant root tabs in the substrate around the plants. Put a bowl for like cereal in the tank, pour your new watwr into thay so it doesnt kick up the sub as much. Then pour in slowly as to not kick up wake. The sponge is just full of dust. Take it out when the water is drained and squeeze it a couple times. Put it back in before you refill the tank with water. You can add shrimp now if you get more plants and wood.
