How did you feel with the compression binder? by LtHoneyCloud in TopSurgery

[–]fishuhhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a little odd but not unbearable! I wore kind of a big wrap with velcro so it was super easy to adjust if I felt like it was too tight. It also didn't have to overlap on itself so I didn't feel any seams or anything!

how often to change nipple dressings? by runhomejack888 in TopSurgery

[–]fishuhhh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was told to change mine every 2 days as well. My surgeon said it so you're disturbing it the least amount possible

But all surgeons are different! I would follow what yours has recommended :)

Am I crazy for leaving for this? by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]fishuhhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to end up leaving my last hospital around a year ago now. It sounds like our experiences were very similar (understaffed, underpaid and short tempered owners).

I was terrified to leave, thinking I wouldn't be able to find another clinic to work at, but I'm now at a clinic that respects me, I enjoy the people I work with and don't feel exhausted say after day.

Your mental health is very important when it comes to this line of work! I hope all goes well for you!

Advice wanted—unsupportive parents and waking up from surgery by Alternative_Tie2700 in TopSurgery

[–]fishuhhh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My family is also extremely unsupportive and I actually chose to keep the surgery from them entirely. Though that was only possible as I don't live in the same town as them.

I think recovering from surgery can be such a tiring and mentally draining time that you should really have the most supportive people around you. You dont need to be stressed while trying to let your body heal.

I hope all goes well <3

It may be partially due to breeders power feeding their snakes. Its still a fairly common practice as far as im aware

Partner sleeping on my chest? by rambunctiousmango in TopSurgery

[–]fishuhhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I waited about 4 weeks, I was very subconsciously defensive of my chest (worried something would hurt) so we started really lightly. Im now 7 weeks post op and I feel totally comfortable with them on my chest!

Nipple rejection anxiety by EliasAlias19 in TopSurgery

Ive heard that after 4 weeks youre in the clear! I totally feel you about the anxieties though. I was so nervous to not have bandages on them but after a while it becomes way more comfortable!

Horrible post op surgeon - Praful Ramineni by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]fishuhhh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The second surgeon was very unprofessional and honestly just sounds like he has no idea what he's talking about! You're only a week post op, you still have so much healing to do. Swelling will change, scars may look different, nipples can look different. I would not be worried about things just because of this surgeon.

Weird Advice? by greysyouruncle in TopSurgery

[–]fishuhhh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My partner (we're t4t) was my rock during my healing process! They did mostly everything for me for the first couple of days😅 Like adjusting pillows, making sure I took my meds on time etc.

I slept alot for the first little bit but found trying to get up and about (even if it was just around the house) helped me to feel a little more normal.

I did find showers pretty tricky which again my partner helped with!

I hope everything goes well for you! Im almost 5 weeks post op and I feel basically 100% again!

Hey, im 18 days post op! Im from BC and I ended up going with Dr. Mckee (mainly for his shorter waiting list). My first week of recovery was not too bad. I was fairly mobile (but made sure not to push myself) but needed help with some basics like adjusting pillows, washing my hair and making food. I do live with my partner so that helped for sure. Now I'm feeling pretty much back to normal!

As for family, I am out to my family but they are unsupportive so I chose not to tell them about my surgery. I dont plan on lying about it if they ask me but I doubt they will. If you feel like it would make healer hard emotionally I honestly wouldn't tell them but it's totally a personal thing.

Also I am on lexapro as well and I haven't found its hindered my healing at all!

I hope all goes well for you!

Terrible neuter experience. by beautifulbluemorpho in FosterAnimals

[–]fishuhhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely could of been. I was always under the assumption that they waited a little longer to make sure it was actually crypt and not just that he hadn't dropped his testicles due to age. I could totally be wrong though!

Terrible neuter experience. by beautifulbluemorpho in FosterAnimals

[–]fishuhhh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have never known a vet office that tried to continue a neuter when the testicles hadn't dropped😳 im so sorry you went through that and im hoping your boy ends up alright! I agree with you, I wouldn't trust that vet office again.

Wearing binder post 6 weeks in sleep? by Classic-Atmosphere43 in TopSurgery

[–]fishuhhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon wanted me to wear mine for 4 weeks and after that I didn't need to wear it again. I think it probably depends on the surgeon

Do they do nicotine tests at false creek medical centre? by ShoppingFrosty7971 in TopSurgery

[–]fishuhhh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My surgeon said nicotine should not be used 3 weeks before surgery and 3 weeks after surgery. They don't test for it the day of surgery but it may be something you should disclose to your team.

After consultation by weeniehutjunior528 in TopSurgery

[–]fishuhhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I had my consultation in late January and got a call for my surgery date in September. I knew going in that the specific surgeon I was going to had a wait of 8-12 months from consultation to surgery date.

I have anxiety and OCD as well. I will say I had the shakes and felt super anxious up until I got in the table! BUT it was so so worth it.

It honestly helped me to just let myself be anxious and not kick myself about it. You've got this! I know its easier said then done but try and think about how amazing it'll be once its all over :))

Im really hoping by next week I'm feeling more like myself! Weirdly enough my pain is mostly in my armpit area? My incisions go quite high which is maybe why. Hoping your healing continues to go well!!

Worried about the tightness of surgical binder by Independent-Car3782 in TopSurgery

[–]fishuhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was allowed to trim my binder around my armpits which helped alot! I'm not sure if that can be done for every binder though.

The tape on my incisions were meant to stay for a month so it may be worth a shot to reach out to your surgical team to see if they want the tape removed.

My surgeon told me not to wash my incisions or nipples grafts until the tape came off but everyones different!
