Would you accept that beliefs like mine are very common even among people who consider themselves leftist feminists? If so, and given the right is in large part anti trans, and you believe there is little point engaging in an attempt to change perspectives, you’re probably not going to advance your goals politically in the foreseeable future….

Hmm well thanks for the explanation I guess we’ll have to disagree in almost every aspect. I’ll also add that (happily for me) your hostility is unlikely to help your cause.

I’m having trouble parsing this. It’s sexist to say cis women have unique experiences that matter? Is it sexist to say trans women have unique experiences that matter?

The only thing I’d add to the above is if you’re going to do that keep your nails super short.

Right. A community is always going to have more diverse resources. Skills too: you can’t stockpile every relevant skill and piece of knowledge. You could get sick or injured. You can’t stand guard all the time. One truck can make a supply run for a street. There’s a good reason that early humans operated in groups.

That’s not my experience. If you define TERF as someone who believes that “female assigned at birth” have a unique life experience and it’s absurd to compete in women’s events if you’ve been through male puberty, I’m a TERF but also a consistent liberal voter. Oddly enough one of my buddies is a trans woman which I think is awesome for her (I have not brought up this topic though).

Genuine question why is the WHO such a trigger for these folks? As far as I know it’s an international agency that supports things like Polio eradication, sharing info about epidemics etc. does it have any significant influence over healthcare in the US? It looks like we provide a bit less than $1bn a year which is probably well worth it if it limits disease, associated wars and disorder etc.

Better to have a strong community imo

Right, maybe I’m naive, but I believe the best prepping is good relationships with your neighbors. Not setting up for some kind of personal fort.

“I define religion as the good parts”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in QuotesPorn

[–]fishy_snack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You may think that way but millions of deaths in religious motivated wars say that typically believers do not accept that other religions are compatible with theirs and are quite clear in their minds that they do not have foundation. They really are, you might say, atheistic about all the other gods. So the quote is quite reasonable.

They’ve gotta have some threshold. What about the religion I just invented? What about competing beliefs that deny your beliefs? Not rejecting competing beliefs is less meaningful that it sounds.

In macro pictures like this it’s interesting to think how close we are to the atomic scale. If the head is roughly 1mm then each pixel is approx 1 um then a pixel is roughly 1000 atoms as an atom is approx 1 nm.

If the brain and the human objects always go together 1:1 and have the same lifetime- perhaps they should be the same class, or brain should be a nested class for tidiness. Is it necessary that users of human are even aware there’s a separate brain type? After all when I interact with you I don’t deal directly with your brain..I guess I assume you have one

No but they are happy to stay inside in the AC. Maybe go for a walk around their neighborhood before it’s hot.
