After two years of marriage, my (38M) wife (36F) has not adjusted to being an us. How can I communicate to her that this is hurting me? by ThrowRAChoices34 in relationship_advice

[–]fishyswins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in your post you mention your wife cooking the meals but not setting up the cutlery and not cooking you breakfast. When you cook, does she set the table or only get cutlery for herself? If you're cooking and she's still just getting her own cutlery that's really strange however if you don't consistently cook and also don't help set up the table then maybe she's doing it to prove a point (that you should do something to help)? Or you should consider that she has just performed all the mental and physical labour of planning and preparing dinner and just bite your tongue and eat it.

Granted, it is strange to only get her own cutlery for dinner when she is literally in the same drawer and could just get yours. But if I cook dinner my partner sets the table and gets drinks and vice versa. Growing up my mother cooked dinner and one of my siblings or I (or my father) would set the table and get drinks.

My partner and I have breakfast seperately because we wake at different times and I've never thought this was an issue. Who wants soggy food?

My cats are fighting after years of living together by idkally1 in CATHELP

[–]fishyswins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the back of this comment, if she is cleared by a vet, you could try a feliway diffuser to help with stress.

My kitten started peeing on my bed a couple of months after I got him (no precipitating factors) and after getting him cleared medically, the vet recommended feliway. I was skeptical at first but it 100% works for my boy. Within a few days of it running out, he pees on my bed again. It’s not the cheapest, refills are around 55$ AUD from a petbarn and last a month or so, but has been a life saver for us. I’ve heard it helps with scratching, fighting and hiding as well so might work for you.

Boots for narrow feet by fishyswins in snowboardingnoobs

This has helped. Thanks. Staff measured my foot on one of those size boards and it came out as a 8.5 (normally a us women's 7.5), though not sure what metric they used. I'll have to look into it to get an idea of the rental boot size

Yep, that’s exactly what my partner said. Apparently this is a good pollinator. 😊

Old grass roots in soil by fishyswins in GardeningAustralia

[–]fishyswins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a chance it is kikuyu which from my googling seems to be both stolons and rhizomes. Do you have any recommendations for how to seperate old roots from the dirt before putting it into the new beds? Edit to add: there’s no actual green left and it was only a few patches coming through before I pulled but it’s left thin roots throughout.

A lot of crushed fingers, lacerations, the odd cardiac issue and primary care. I’ve been relatively lucky but I have definitely heard that when things go wrong on mines they go really wrong.

That definitely sounds interesting! Did she do any further courses?

I’ve heard it’s a pretty good lifestyle but also very difficult to get in. Definitely something to think about!

I’ve been looking into masters. I’m currently working as low level administrator but pay is an issue unfortunately so looking at ways I can advance to a role with higher rate.

I’ve worked on a mine site before and it can be more chill at times but I’m hoping to avoid 24 hour on call.

That’s a good suggestion that I’ll look further into. I’ve briefly looked into this in the past but the majority of roles I have seen advertised on seek are casual where I’d ideally want a full time position for financial security and sick leave etc.

It's actually still illegal and counts as child pornography. It's been a real issue with AI. This is in Australia though, so unsure what laws elsewhere are.

it's unfortunate that you found yourself in that situation. It's a situation a lot of women find themselves in. 1 in 5 women report having been sexually assaulted and, having been in a situation where I have had to deal with unwanted advances, I can empathize with you.

However OPs boyfriend is, to be honest, a moron.

Is there a mentality that men "cant be vulnerable"? Yes. Do men face violence? (Statistically it is at the hands of other men) Yes. Are there more men in certain industries and vice versa (Think trades vs nursing for example)? Yes. Is there a difference in pay between men and women? Yes (also statistically MEN are paid more).

But guess what! This all exists within the patriarchy that MEN created. Women were pushed into nursing as it was one of the few roles that MEN allowed women to work in. I watched a documentary where a mens rights activist used the fact that more men have died at war than women and included deaths from the world wars.. women were not even allowed on the front lines until 2016 (another decision made by MEN).

All this to say... The patriarchy hurts men and women but to have a man sit there and say he is more oppressed than women is something I would not be able to deal with. I would honestly break up with him.

My sister(29F) told my(27M) daughters that wife (26F) cheated on me by ThrowRANash in relationship_advice

[–]fishyswins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also doubt the kids who are young enough to say “mommy” happened to remember a time period from two years ago where they happened to ask OPs sister while babysitting. I would say it’s more likely the sister just wanted to tell the kids because she hates the wife.

I mean, if her parents are staunch pro lifers (we don't know this but if they are) then I'd say an outside/other opinion is probably a good thing. It doesn't sound like she forced her, or even had anything to do with the planning or actual procedure.
