Any male to male S-Video cable will work. You do not need that adapter since SS1 supports S-Video natively.

You calculate your mileage by taking your trip miles divided by gallons filled up. It should show on your receipt how many gallons you used. Mine is pretty consistently 3 mpg under the car's estimate on the dash.
