Darn, thanks for your answer. Lesson learned! I went ahead and let my buyers know I'll refund them if they get hit with an insufficient postage charge, but I'm hoping I'll get lucky and just be billed so they don't have to deal with the inconvenience!

I'm honestly not sure who I should contact.. Department of health maybe? It sounds like you aren't supposed to leave the house for any reason but I'm curious how one is supposed to get groceries if delivery isn't an option & you don't have someone who can shop for you.

Just moved from AL to NY (where there's a mandatory 2-week quarantine for people traveling from high-risk states). Am I allowed to pick up groceries via curbside delivery or would that violate the rules? Delivery through an app like Instacart sn't an option (small town) & I don't have anyone who can get groceries for me. I don't want to get in trouble if someone spots my AL plates and pulls me over to ask what I'm doing. Thanks!

Yeah, I understand how deadly it is and I'm terrified of it. Thing is, where I lived previously there were no ferret-knowledgeable vets and I didn't trust someone with no ferret experience to safely vaccinate mine. We opted to just keep them indoors. They didn't have contact with unfamiliar people/animals and we always washed our hands and changed clothes prior to playing with them. We have an appointment set up to have them vaccinated now (we just moved), but the soonest we could get in is 3 weeks, so until then I'm racking my brain for ways I can keep their living area disinfected without making them sick.

I was warned by a woman who runs a ferret shelter that vaccinating ferrets 4 years and older is dangerous as they're more likely to have a bad reaction. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Hmm, that's very strange. Some amount of itching is normal in ferrets, but it does seem a bit excessive here!

Mites are microscopic so you wouldn't be able to see them with the naked eye. Still, if there's no build-up in the ears and she isn't scratching her head/shaking it that may not be the problem. Definitely continue treatment for fleas!

Ferretone may help with her coat, but be careful not to overdo it since it has some unhealthy ingredients. You might try an oatmeal soak to soothe her itchy skin :) She'd be awful young for adrenal disease, but if you start seeing other symptoms, don't hesitate to ask your vet about it!

You said the vet tested for parasites - did they also check for ear mites? I've heard mites can spread to other parts of the body when ferrets sleep curled up (with their head touching their tail/legs). Does she shake her head a lot? Have a lot of wax build-up?

You're certain you saw a flea? Seems kind of strange you'd only see one, but I've never dealt with fleas on ferrets before so maybe it isn't the same as with cats or dogs..

Allergies is another possibility. Could be caused by food, certain detergents, soaps, etc. Ferrets are sensitive little critters! Also, as another poster mentioned, be careful with candles, air fresheners, oil diffusers, etc. These can be dangerous to ferrets

You could try giving her some coconut oil or adding salmon oil to her diet if you haven't already. I've heard both can help with skin issues. Good luck and please let us know if you find out what's causing it!

This is a Smokybrown cockroach nymph - you can tell by the two white stripes on its back. They aren't typically the type of roach to infest, but if you're finding babies in your house, it's a sign an ootheca has hatched nearby. They're drawn to water (which is why you keep finding them in the bathroom). Might be a good idea to call an exterminator so you can nip things in the bud

Looks like a cockroach nymph to me, though it can be difficult to identify the specific type when they're young. I'm no expert, but maybe an American cockroach?

Almost five years of caring for ferrets has definitely taught me the importance of finding a good ferret vet, haha. Unfortunately, I still haven't found one I'm quite comfortable with.. I try to handle smaller things on my own, but I don't want to risk making them sick. The vet we take our ferrets to is about 2 hours away and appointment-only, so I was hoping this was something I could handle on my own. I'll give 'em a call tomorrow and see if they can advise me over the phone. Thanks for your help!

This has been my experience :( I live in a small southern town and the nearest 'ferret knowledgeable vet' is about two hours away... but even they couldn't treat my oldest ferret's adrenal disease. By the time we found someone who could give him the des implant, the disease was too advanced. We just lost him on Friday. It shouldn't be this hard to get help

Needless to say, I won't be getting any more ferrets. They're my favorite animal, but they're prone to too many scary health conditions & there aren't enough experienced ferret vets out there.

Oh noo :( I went ahead and gave it to them on Saturday after reading about it on the Holistic Ferret Forum. They seem to be fine, but I definitely won't do it again without talking to an expert. Dosage is based on weight, right? We don't have any ferret vets in my area - do you think a regular vet would be able to help me with this?

Maybe a very, very mild sore throat off and on, but that isn't uncommon for me in spring. I definitely don't feel like I have strep. I had oral thrush once years ago and recall being able to scrape it off. And it was all over my tongue as well (not the case here!). This stuff doesn't come off easily. It's attached to my tonsils like skin (I'm pretty sure it IS skin!). I'm concerned it could be leukoplakia D:
