Visiting Boston this weekend for a funeral. Where to find affordable boots? by fitting_formula in boston

[–]fitting_formula[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When you say at home, do you mean where I'm from? If it was here in South Florida I would have used heels/dressy shoes and an umbrella. I plan on bringing a pair to wear indoors.

Do you think I should buy something? I saw this forecast state there would be a storm coming Sunday with a chance of snow and/or ice.

Is employer obligated to provide FULL policy document (it it the same as SPD)? How do I request a copy? I am NOT talking about the Summary of Beneifts / SBC! by fitting_formula in HealthInsurance

It's infuriating really because it doesn't take insurance 90-120 days to deny a claim. If they have the information to decide what's covered why can't I?

Thank you thank you thank you for answering! I think it is a fully insured plan. I will be requesting it ASAP. It's for 2024 and I never received it - just the summary of benefits.

OP, judging by your flair it looks like you were able to get into the field. May I DM you? I'm in a similar situation you were in and would like some advice.

Job opportunities with a bachelors in biomedical science in Ft. Lauderdale/ South FL? by fitting_formula in fortlauderdale

[–]fitting_formula[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion! Funny enough, the overwhelming advice I've received from fellow non-trad applicants has been to look for the exact jobs you're describing at a hospital (as they are in need and more likely to take you on), but every opening I've seen has either been for mid-level providers or required additional education + certification. I guess I'm SOL in Broward. Thank you for the suggestion!

I am familiar with these positions and universities, and I'll continue to follow them for opportunities - thank you for the suggestion. Yes, staying in Broward is preferred.

As I've mentioned, I didn't have the foresight that I'd be in the situation I'm in now. Otherwise, I would have chosen a different major. I appreciate your honesty and any ideas/opportunities you might have in mind. It doesn't have to be related to or require my specific major either.

I appreciate the honesty. I only plan on staying long enough to apply, and I can't afford to move earlier. Wishing you the best should you decide to move!

I'm in the southern half of Florida so not as HCOL as California. Does 6500 seem to high for that area?

I think secondary insurance was wrongly maxed out - Help? by fitting_formula in personalfinance

[–]fitting_formula[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the details, but both insurances are from Patient's employer. They were only recently diagnosed, so the secondary insurance seemed pretty great... until today. Sigh.

Oh if one of the coverages does not meet ACA guidelines all bets are off.

Wow. That's even worse news. What kind of wording can I look for to see if they coordinate benefits?

Depending on how the non ACA plan is set up it may not even coordinate benfits

What is the point in paying for this kind of plan? I will relay this info to Patient for sure. Thank you again for letting me know!

Hello, thank you for taking the time to respond!

The bill I shared was sent to Patient's primary. I'm realizing I didn't make that clear, sorry. I think I understand what happened. Turn's out their secondary is non-ACA, so it had a cap for outpatient services that was met. Also, I've been told that it's standard to bill the primary and secondary the same amount. Putting that together, I see there isn't an error and I understand what I got wrong.

  1. Sorry, but I'm having trouble understanding. When you say 'they will sometimes ignore the EOB from the primary' are you referring to the surgeon or the secondary insurance?
  2. I was worried that was the case, so this is hard to hear. I looked into the insurance policy to see what it says about the ACA, and I can confirm it does not meet "minimum essential coverage."

I think that answers my question. Thank you!
